Important note: By default, we block respondents from going through a survey more than once by detecting IP address. If you're sharing your link with anyone in the same workplace, school, or on the same IP address, you need to enable duplicates.

In your project, go to the survey builder and navigate to the More menu in the toolbar. Then go to Settings > Enable duplicates, and save.

To create a link to share with your audience

  • Go to your project. From the sample page, click on Share a Link.

  • Enter a name for your reference.

    • If you wish to redirect people who complete your survey to another website, enter this site into the redirect URL, and select Front-end redirect.

    • If you want to end on our standard thank-you page, you can leave Sample redirect URL and Sample redirect mode empty.

  • Add in your brand color (HEX code). This will provide an accent color on survey arrows, progress bars, and highlights when you make an answer selection in the survey via this link.

This can also be done later if you don't want to edit it now; just leave at #000000 (black).

  • Next, β€˜EDIT’ the sample card you've created. You can add your logo along with terms and conditions if you have any.

Terms and conditions will show as a clickable link at the bottom of your survey if it's taken via this link.

Your link is now ready to distribute. Click the settings icon in the top right corner and Preview survey. The link that appears in the URL in the opened window is the link you can provide to others to complete the survey.

Alternatively, click the Links tab on the sample card, and copy the short link.

How do I identify who has completed my survey?

If you're distributing your link via a CRM, email, SMS software, or a third-party panel, you can pass parameters via variables. Also known as merge tags, variables are pieces of information your software automatically appends to the link. This is the same as creating unique links for your survey.

  • In your sample card, navigate to Edit > Variables > Add new.

  • Give your variable a name. For example: if the piece of data you're passing is an email address, call your variable Email.

  • Add as many variables as there are pieces of information you want to pass.

Now, follow the same steps as before to get your survey link. You then need to manually add the variable information at the end of the link, first using a question mark (?) and then an ampersand (&) to separate each piece of information.

Your link should look like this:

The information in the brackets is what's being auto-filled by the software distributing your survey link. You may need to refer to help guides from your software provider on how to fill these fields.

To check the variables are passing through correctly, send a test invite from your software and click the link. Then,

  • Visit the Responses tab in your project.

  • Find the individual response and click Details.

  • You'll see the information showing under Query variables.

If you need to encrypt parameters you're passing through a link, encryption settings are in the Details tab of your project. You can also contact us to set this up.
