Question blocks are designed to help you organize and group questions for randomization or prioritization.

To get started with question blocks, script the questions in your survey.

On the question, navigate to “Advance options” in the tool bar, select “Add/create block,” and type in the name you’d like to attribute to your question block. Select “Save,” and you’ll see the name you entered appear on your question as the block reference.

Every question you add can be attributed to the blocks you’ve named, or you can leave them unattributed.

Question blocks can be activated by using the “B eye” icon on your question, which enables you to quickly and easily allocate the question to question blocks.

Creating multiple blocks
To create multiple question blocks, enter a new block name in the question block feature.

Managing blocks
To manage question blocks, navigate to the tool bar, select “more,” and click on “question blocks.” Here you can control how questions blocks are displayed and shown to respondents.

Randomizing blocks and randomizing questions within blocks
Randomizing blocks will randomize the order in which your question blocks are shown to respondents. To randomize blocks, select “randomizing blocks.”

You can also limit the number of blocks shown to respondents. To do this, navigate to the righthand side and select the number of blocks. For example: if we select 2, that means 2 out of the 5 blocks we’ve created will be shown to each individual user and that those blocks shown will be randomized. If you don’t want to set a limit, simply leave it displaying “no limits.”

To randomize questions within the question blocks, select “randomize questions.” If you don’t want this, simply leave the feature off and use standard piping and logic features from the survey builder.

Response limit
Response limits allow you to set a maximum number of people to complete a particular question block. To set response limits, select the number of completes for the intended question block.

Priority
This allows you to prioritize the order in which blocks are shown. The lower the number, the higher priority it will be shown (e.g. “1” is the highest priority).

To collect responses about a category that’s likely to be less popular, set it with the highest priority to increase the likelihood of getting adequate responses. Alternatively, consider using the highest priority for blocks with the lowest estimated incidence. If you want to reset priorities at any point, select “reset priority” at the bottom, and reenter the information.
