Troubleshoot a Message That Could Not Be Sent

Check channel configuration, recipient eligibility, consent, templates, cooldowns, and delivery details for a failed message.

A message can fail before launch, be skipped by a safety rule, or be rejected by the downstream provider.

Check the channel

Open Settings → Integrations and confirm the required email, Quo/SMS, WhatsApp, PMS, or other messaging connection is healthy.

Check the recipient

Confirm the contact has a valid address or phone number, is eligible for the selected channel, and is not excluded by a suppression list, opt-out, or consent restriction.

Check campaign safeguards

  • The first campaign SMS must contain STOP opt-out language.

  • Recent SMS recipients can be skipped by the workspace cooldown.

  • WhatsApp marketing to US numbers is blocked by Meta.

  • WhatsApp sends outside the service window require an approved template.

Inspect the record

Open the campaign, journey, signal, or conversation and review its recipient or activity details. Use Operations → System Events for related processing events.

Retry safely

Correct the root cause before retrying. For an SMS campaign sent with errors, use the retry-failed action when available so already successful recipients are not sent the same message again.
