Exclusions and suppressions prevent contacts from receiving outreach even when they match an included audience.
Use an exclusion list
Choose an exclusion list in a campaign when the rule applies only to that send—for example, guests who already accepted the offer.
Use a suppression list
Use a scoped suppression list for a durable safety rule. Active suppression lists are applied during campaign audience calculation even when the operator does not select them manually.
Review the final audience
The campaign wizard starts with included contacts, removes exclusions and suppressions, then applies channel and compliance eligibility. Review the final count and preflight warnings before launch.
Do not use lists as the only opt-out record
Consent and opt-out state belongs on the contact and channel records. A suppression list is an additional audience control, not a replacement for processing STOP, unsubscribe, or other preference changes.
