Railings are safety guards placed around the edges of high decks or stairs and are required in some circumstances. If your project requires a rail by law, we will include one by default. There are two types of railing: Guard Rails, and Handrails.

Guard Rails

These are a safety feature placed around high surfaces, such as a raised deck or alongside a long staircase. We always include guard rails for any surface that is 30" or higher above the ground. We also recommend them for families with small children or anyone with mobility concerns.

Handrails

Handrails are for holding onto when walking up or down a set of stairs. Like guard rails, they are required for any stairs with a drop of 30" or higher on either side. We also recommend handrails for any clients with mobility concerns, regardless of the stair height.
