Kickstarter - What can I do if my payment is declined?

When a backer’s payment can’t be collected, Kickstarter will email you with instructions on how to fix your pledge and will continue to do so every 48 hours for 7 days. You can also fix your pledge by logging into your Kickstarter account and clicking on the "Fix Payment" banner at the top of the page.

You can log in to your Kickstarter account through a web browser on a computer to fix the payment.

Through the Kickstarter app on iOS:

  1. Visit the Activity tab where you will see which pledge we were not able to process

  2. Tap “Manage” to be redirected to the screen to fix your payment

  3. Select either to retry your card or try a new payment method

Through the Kickstarter app on Android:

  1. Visit the project page or your Activity tab where you will see which pledge we were not able to process

  2. Tap “Manage” to be redirected to the screen to fix your payment

  3. Select either to retry your card or try a new payment method

Backers with errored pledges will have 7 days from the project's deadline to update their payment method. At the end of this period, Kickstarter will automatically try to collect the pledge again. If this attempt fails, you will be dropped from the campaign and it will no longer be possible to collect your pledge.
