You can choose whether to collect tax from your customers, or to apply tax while allowing for eligible exemptions. Customers marked as tax-exempt will not be charged tax at checkout. To ensure the exemption is applied correctly, they must use the same email address as the one associated with their customer account.

đŸ§± Step 1: Add a new customer that is tax exempt

1. Click "Add customer"

2. Add the customers details as you always would

3. The scroll down to the Tax exemptions section and you can either check collect tax to charge that customer taxes or set to not charge that customer taxes.

If you select collect tax unless exemptions apply you will be prompted to note the specific exemptions per state/region.

4. Click "Save"

🔑 Step 2: Update an existing customer to tax exempt

1. Click on the customer

2. Click "Manage"

3. Click "Edit Tax Details"

4. Set to 'Don't collect tax'

If you select collect tax unless exemptions apply you will be prompted to note the specific exemptions per state/region.

5. Click "Save"

✅ You're All Set!
