📝 Overview

In a Flowbot operation, when using the Update Record action, if no value is provided for an update, the original value remains unchanged.

This article explains how to update a record’s value to be blank (or reset it to its default value if a default is set).

🛠️ Setup Method

To update a record as blank using the "Update Record" action, follow these steps:

  1. For relevant item, enter the following value:

    ___blank___

  2. If the output is empty and you want to update it to be blank, you can specify the value like this.

    {{output}}___blank___

☝️ Note:

You must specify the relevant output name in the item for {{output}}.

This method of updating an empty output to be blank is only available in the Manage Database actions. It cannot be used Integrate with Apps actions.

The following apps support updating blank fields using the Update Record method:

  • Yoom Database

  • Google Sheets

  • Kintone

  • Notion

☝️ Notes

While you can use this method in the Integrate with Apps actions, please be aware that not all apps or actions may support updating fields as blank.

To ensure the setup works as intended, be sure to test in advance to confirm that the field is updated to blank as expected.
