⏳ How to Set Up the "Delay" Operation

Written by Yuki Omori

📝 Overview

The "Delay" operation allows you to pause your workflow for a specific duration before the next action is executed. Think of it as a way to give your processes some breathing room—whether you're waiting for a few minutes or scheduling an action for a specific day in the future.

☝️ Note: This operation is available for users on the Personal, Mini, Team, and Success plans.

The available standby time settings are as follows:

Wait for a specific duration

  • Seconds

  • Minutes

  • Hours

  • Days and hours

Wait until a specific date and time

  • The next [day of the week]

  • The next [day of the month]

  • [Day] of the next month

📍 Example Use Cases

Drip Email Campaigns:

After sending an initial welcome email(e.g., marketing or internal reminder emails), you can wait for a specified period of time before automatically sending a follow-up.

Holiday Auto-Replies:

Using a schedule trigger, you can create a flow bot that runs only on holidays and automatically replies to inquiries received during holidays on the next business day.

Smart Reminders:

After sending a contract, you can automatically send a reminder two days later to check the contract status and prevent missed follow-ups.

🛠️ How to Set Up

1. Add the "Delay" Operation

In your Flowbot editor, click the "+" button between the steps where you want the pause to occur. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select "Delay" from the list of operations.

2. Configure Your Timing

Enter or select the following items (1-4), then click the Save button:

  1. Title: Enter a title of your choice.

  2. Setting Method: Select your preferred setting method.

  3. Setting Unit: Select your preferred time unit, such as seconds, minutes, hours, or days.

  4. Date/Time: Specify the wait duration or the date and time.

That’s it!

Your Flowbot will now patiently wait until the specified time before moving on to the next step. 🎉
