📝 Overview

When creating tasks in collaboration with Jira Software, an epic key is required. This article explains how to create and check epic keys in Jira Software.

❓ What is an Epic Key

In Jira Software, an epic is a collection of related tasks grouped under a specific category.

When a user creates an epic, it’s called an epic key.

In Yoom, tasks are linked to an "epic." So, before adding tasks in Yoom, make sure to create an "Epic" issue type in Jira.

🛠️ How to Create & Add an Epic Key

1. Create from the Timeline

In Jira, select Timeline from the menu.

In the center of the screen, you will see What needs to be done?

Enter an epic name of your choice.

The epic key will appear next to the epic name, displayed in the red frame.

2. Add to An Issue

Select Board from the menu.

Enter a task in the What needs to be done? field in any column.

Click on the one you just created.

To add an epic to the task, click Add Epic at the top left of the task.

You can only add an epic that was created in advance.

🔍 How to Check Your Epic Key

The epic key will be shown on the left side of the task key in the top left corner of the issue details.

You can also check your list of epic keys by selecting Timeline in Jira.
