How to Enable Text Filtering via the iPhone App

Enable Text Filtering on the YouMail iPhone App

While YouMail is unable to block spam text messages from being received, we are able to filter them so they do not clutter your Messages app. The YouMail app would need to be installed on your device for the option to be available. Once installed, please follow these steps to enable the setting:

Navigate to Settings

  • Open your iPhone Settings and select "Apps".

  • Scroll Down and select "Messages".

NB: If you're still on iOS 17, your settings menu navigation would not have changed.

Simply open Settings, then scroll down and select messages.

  • Once the Messages tab is selected, scroll down to Unknown & Spam. It will be under the Message Filtering heading.

Enable SMS Filtering

  • From here, make sure that YouMail is enabled under the SMS Filtering heading.

  • Once YouMail is enabled there will be new filters in your Messages app. Any text message from a Spam number will appear in the Junk folder.
