Issues Syncing iPhone Contacts to YouMail

Updated over 4 months ago

Errors when syncing contacts from your iPhone to YouMail are rare but can happen. Issues can range from duplicate contacts being uploaded to no contacts appearing at all after giving the app permission to sync. Failure to upload your contacts to the YouMail app can cause your callers to be blocked or greeted incorrectly. If the issue is duplicate contacts are being created, you can try to resolve it with the steps below. Jump to Access the app for steps on re-attempting contact sync.

Notes:

  • Contacts can be edited via the app or the online account. Additionally, if you edit the contact from your phone's contact list and resync your contacts, the updates will be brought forward to YouMail.

  • Duplicate contacts (contacts with the same phone number) can cause issues with the greeting played, so please make sure to clear any repeated contacts.

  • Unfortunately, if a contact calls an Extra Line and they have a custom greeting assigned, the custom greeting does not apply (by design).
