Status and location updates are an important aspect of YourDriverApp. They allow you to know where colleagues are driving and if they are available for a job offer.

Before we show you how to refresh your/your drivers' location, it is essential to understand how it works.

Two elements are important when working with status and location:

  1. The location updates of the “other” driver.

  2. The updates of the view that you are using (map).

We've aimed to create the perfect balance in updating the location of you/your colleagues and saving your mobile's battery. As long as a someone is on a shift, their location will be updated (when you refresh). When the app is working in the background while someone is still on a shift, their location and status will be updated frequently.

Good to know:

  1. Location updates are not based on time, but on a change in location. This means that if someone is not moving, their location will not be updated.

  2. To limit the use of your phone's battery, background app refresh only happens at certain times. This maximises the efficiency of how the feature affects your phone.

What does this mean for location updates on the map?

This basically means that you will need to refresh your map to make sure you've got your colleagues' latest location info.

Options to refresh your map:

Manually refreshing

When using the map under the 'Contacts' tab, you should be able to manually refresh the map by tapping on the title 'Drivers' or 'Available'.

When using the map under the 'Messages' tab, you should be able to manually refresh the map by tapping the title 'Map'.

The HD location feature

When using the HD location feature, location updates will happen more often, more precisely and faster. This means that YourDriverApp will use more battery and data, but that you will have a more precise overview of your drivers.
