Network apps like YourDriverApp require access to your contact list to add colleagues or other members to your group. For example, if you've just created a group within YourDriverApp, it will ask to add members from your contact list. If you haven't given YourDriverApp access to your contacts you won't be able to add members to your group. You could almost say that YourDriverApp is completely dependent on your contact list.

Without this permission YourDriverApp can't work properly.

To be clear: YourDriverApp will never use your contacts for any other purpose than the functionalities of YourDriverApp.
