Living in Oklahoma means occasional school cancellations and delays in releasing students due to winter and severe weather. Therefore, listed below is helpful information for your convenience. Please note that YPS facilities are not public shelters. Please familiarize yourself with the closest public shelters in your area to seek refuge or shelter in place pursuant to your local jurisdiction regulations.   • Severe Weather:

    During the threat of severe weather, YPS officials monitor conditions to ensure the safety of our students, teachers, and staff. In the event severe weather moves into the area and/or a warning is issued, the safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our priority and YPS:  will issue a weather lockdown will shelter as needed while holding all students and buses will not allow the release of students to parents during weather lock-downs and while sheltering as all faculty and staff will also be taking shelter will not allow parents or visitors to enter or leave the school during a weather lockdown may cancel all after school activities and sporting events may adjust/modify bus routes during severe weather threats to ensure the safety of all students and drivers. Including, but not limited to:

    > Re-routing of buses to nearest school to seek shelter under weather lockdown      or severe weather threat
    > Starting routes earlier to avoid severe weather approaching the area and avoid     delays in getting students home
    >  Holding buses at school sites during arrival or departure times until severe             weather threat passes.
  • Severe Weather Communications:

    We will broadcast a message through the YPS Mobile App, on the front page of the www.yukonps.com website, Social Media, and SchoolMessenger which will be received via your designated phone number, either on your home phone or cell phone; as we are safely able too regarding delays and weather lock-downs. Please do not call the schools, Administration Office, or radio stations, as to keep these lines open.
