Summary
This article will walk you through the entire process of creating an interactive email in Zaymo. Once you know what you're doing, this process should take < 5 min.
Creating an interactive email in Zaymo
Step 1: Login to Zaymo and navigate to Email templates.
Step 2: Click on import emails from ESP and select the desired template.
Step 3: Delete the original CTA in the email. You don't want to confuse the recipient with both an in-email action and an invitation to leave the email.
**Be sure to delete these static CTAs from both the desktop view and the mobile view as some templates have mobile-specific blocks that only render in Zaymo's mobile view.
Step 4: Drag the widget to the desired location in the email.
Step 5: Change the design settings of the widget using the component editor to match the email's style. The component editor enables editing of features including font, color, margins, and more to help with general branding. It also features a “save as default” setting to simplify the widget design process in the future. Widget-specific settings such as the highlighted product in the product highlight widget will not be saved even if Save as default is selected. To learn more about the component editor, read this doc.
Step 6: Preview the email by clicking preview/export. This shows how the email will appear in different inboxes.
*The non-interactive version keeps the CTAs that were deleted. This ensures that customers always have an action to take within the email.
Step 7: Click continue to export wizard. Set the email preview text. Klaviyo does not support editing the preview text of HTML emails, so it must be done here.
Step 8: Check the "Export as Zaymo A/B test" box if you want to export this as an A/B test template. Otherwise, leave the box unchecked.
Step 8: Click Export and copy the AMP code.
Step 9: Go to Klaviyo, click the three dots next to your template, and select create AMP version. Paste the AMP part and click Save.
Note: A popup may appear when the interactive AMP layer is applied (see image below). You can ignore this message as its purpose is simply to educate those building an interactive email for the first time.
Step 11: Confirm that an AMP layer has been applied to your template by checking if the tag on your template has changed from HTML to AMP.
