The Lightning Network is a second layer that lives on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. It lets you make fast, low-fee transactions by creating off-chain payment channels between users. This allows for multiple transactions outside of the blockchain. Only the final balances are then recorded on-chain.

How do you send and receive the transactions? A Lightning Address is a user-friendly identifier—-much like an email address—-for receiving bitcoin payments on the Lightning Network.

Instead of sharing complex node information, you can simply share your Lightning Address to receive payments. This makes the process simpler, more intuitive, and faster.

The Lightning Network makes micropayments and day-to-day transactions with bitcoin more efficient and scalable. We believe it’s how we can bring Bitcoin to everyone! ✨
