In a project-based project, the freelancer and client can break the whole project down into segments, with a section of the budget assigned to each of those segments. These segments are called "milestones."
A project-based project can be divided into as many milestones as the users want, or as few as one. For projects with just one milestone, the freelancer completes the entire project in exchange for a one-time payment of the entire project budget.
