How to Create and Manage Ad Groups
Updated over a week ago

Overview

An ad group is an entity where you can define specific criteria (flight dates, targeting, optimization type, etc. ) and upload your content ads.

IMPORTANT: At least one ad group is mandatory in order to deliver your campaign.

Criteria available to define in an ad group:

  • Ad group flight dates, delivery type & day-parting

  • Bidding strategy (conversions, impressions, clicks, or engagement), daily budget

  • Click & impression frequency cap

  • Bid modifiers

  • Targeting (Location, Publisher & Placement, Language, Device, Environment, Contextual, Keywords, Retargeting, Audiences)

  • Deal ID

  • Tracking code

Keep in mind a campaign can include several ad groups to split the delivery based on different criteria.

Steps to create a new ad group

  1. Navigate to the campaign overview screen.

  2. Click on the + Ad Group button located on the bottom left corner of the dashboard.

  3. A new window will open up taking you to ad group Settings.

Ad Group Settings

Ad group settings display general and delivery information about a specific ad group.

You can edit the following sections:

  • Name: Custom ad group name to easily identify the ad group in your campaign setup or campaign monitoring.

  • Scheduling: Define the start and end date of the ad group. Choose delivery type and apply day-parting (optional).

  • Budgets and daily limits: Select the desired bidding strategy and set the ad group's daily spend limit (in case of enabling budget optimization on the campaign level, a daily limit is set automatically).

  • Device targeting: Choose on which devices to run your ads. You are also able to select the operating system and the environment (website vs. in-app).

  • Location targeting: Select the geo-locations you'd like to target. You can choose to target a country, region, city, ZIP code, or a DMA. Excluding a location is supported as well.

  • Tracking (optional): Insert tracking codes/UTM to be automatically added to all promoted content ad URLs (UTMs are also supported per individual content ad URL).

  • Audience Targeting (optional): Target specific demographics or interest categories based on the user's reading habits.

  • Deals (optional): Connect and create a deal ID.

  • Bid modifiers: Review and configure bid modifiers/bid adjustments across all dimensions.

Once you've defined all the parameters, click Save and you're all set.
