Setting up Devices Targeting
Updated over a week ago

Device targeting enables you to target ads to specific device types, operating systems, browsers, and connection types. Under Devices targeting you will also find the ability to target devices connected to Wi-Fi or cellular networks.

We recommend breaking out your ad groups by device, as CPCs vary and this will provide you with more control to optimize efficiently. By default, your ad group will target the following physical device types.

Device type

  • Desktop

  • Tablet

  • Smartphone

  • OTT & CTV (video campaigns only)

Device type targeting enables you to show your ads to people based on their device. Consider this type of targeting when:

  • Your website is optimized for a specific device type.

  • Your product extends or substitutes the functionality of a specific device type (phone or computer accessories).

Operating System

If you’d like to appear on certain supported operating systems, this is your opportunity to indicate that by typing in the operating system name or choosing it from the drop-down menu and defining its minimum and maximum version.

Browser

If you’d like to appear on certain browsers, this is your opportunity to indicate that by checking the box next to the browser name from the drop-down menu. Keep in mind the list of options available in browser targeting will be adjusted based on your device targeting.

Connection type

You can opt to serve ads only to devices connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data providers. This enhanced targeting feature is particularly useful when looking to reach mobile users with a high-speed connection or even to target contextually specific situations such as presuming that online users are commuting while browsing the open web on a cellular network. The cellular targeting option is not recommended when targeting desktops only.

PLEASE NOTE: If you leave all device and connection types options un-checked Z1 will consider targeting all of the options listed.
