How To View Unbilled Invoices By Matter or By Client And Save Filters In ZenCase

View Unbilled Invoices By Matter or By Client

You can view all of your unbilled charges that do not belong to an invoice from the Unbilled list page which is available from the left sidebar navigation. Click on the "Unbilled" or the hourglass icon link.

Once on the Unbilled list page, you can perform various actions:

  • View Organization, Division, or Originator Unbilled and Pre-Billed Overview

  • View Unbilled Charges by Matter For Matter Based Billing

  • View Unbilled Charges By Client for Client Based Billing

  • Search or filter by:

    • Client

    • Client Originator (for client based billing)

    • Client Manager (for client based billing)

    • Matter

    • Matter Originator

    • Matter Manager

    • Division

    • Include All Unbilled Expenses

    • Charge Type (Time Entry, Fixed Fee, Expense)

    • Matter Type

    • Billing Type

    • Date Range

View Unbilled Charges By Matter

On the Unbilled list page, you can view all unbilled charges by matter in order to generate pre-bills for those matters.

  • On the Unbilled list page, click on the "By Matter" tab

  • Apply any filters to narrow down your table results

  • Click on "Settings" in the top right of the table to turn on/off columns to display

  • You will now see unbilled charges with:

    • Client

    • Matter

    • Matter Originator

    • Matter Type

    • Billing Type

    • Client Billing Note

    • Matter Billing Note

    • Total Actual Hours for Matter

    • Total Adjusted Hours for Matter

    • Total Discount Hours for Matter

    • Total Fees Amount for Matter

    • Total Expenses Amount for Matter

    • Total Bill Amount for Matter

When you're ready to generate pre-bills for a matter, select the checkbox to the left of each row and click "Generate Pre-Bills". Those pre-bills will be moved to the "Pre-Billed" tab.

View Unbilled Charges By Client

On the Unbilled list page, you can view all unbilled charges by client in order to generate pre-bills for those clients.

  • On the Unbilled list page, click on the "By Client" tab

  • Apply any filters to narrow down your table results

  • Click on "Settings" in the top right of the table to turn on/off columns to display

  • You will now see unbilled charges with:

    • Client

    • Client Originator

    • Client Billing Note

    • Total Actual Hours for Client

    • Total Adjusted Hours for Client

    • Total Discount Hours for Client

    • Total Fees Amount for Client

    • Total Expenses Amount for Client

    • Total Bill Amount for Client

When you're ready to generate pre-bills for a client, select the checkbox to the left of each row and click "Generate Pre-Bills". Those pre-bills will be moved to the "Pre-Billed" tab.

Save Custom Filters on Unbilled List Page

When you filter unbilled charges, you have the ability to "save" the filter options you currently have applied to the unbilled list. This is a very powerful feature to help you organize and quickly access the specific unbilled charges you need.

How To Save A Custom Filter:

  • On the Unbilled list page, select a filter dropdown on the page, such as Client, Matter, or Matter Originator. You can also select the "All filters" button for more filtering options.

  • After you have applied the filters you need, click "Save Filters"

  • Enter your custom filter name in the pop up panel

  • Click "Save Filters"

  • You will now see a new oval, pill shaped button underneath the filters

  • Click "Clear Filters" to clear all filter options

  • Click your new custom filter name button and you will see all the filters re-applied automatically!

By applying filters and saving custom filters, you can categorize and organize the specific information you are looking for and it's as simple as a click of a button to view your filtered list.
