ZeroConfig is a paid feature in the ZeroTek app that makes it easier for MSPs to set up Okta orgs: simply configure components like groups, authenticators, network zones, Okta ThreatInsight settings, policies, bookmark apps, and user types once in a ZeroConfig Template, and then bulk assign the template to any number of Okta orgs to implement the configurations automatically.
With ZeroConfig, MSPs can do the following
Save time setting up Okta orgs. Define a detailed configuration once in ZeroTek, then apply the templated configuration to any number or Okta orgs, or across your customer base.
Minimize errors that can occur when you configure Okta orgs individually.
Identify policy drift from the target configuration by monitoring Okta orgs over time, and correct them if desired.
High-level workflow
Create one or more ZeroConfig Templates, either by building from scratch or importing pre-built template and modifying them if required.
Assign a ZeroConfig Template to any number of Okta orgs. You can assign only one ZeroConfig Template to each org.
Run the assigned ZeroConfig Template against one or more assigned Okta orgs in one of two modes:
Report Only – Provides information about how compliant an Okta org's configuration is in comparison to the ZeroConfig Template, including details about deviations.
Report and Modify – Pushes all configurations defined in the ZeroConfig Template to the target Okta org(s), overwriting existing settings where necessary, and provides detailed information about how compliant the target org's configuration is before and after running the ZeroConfig Template.
Accelerating new Okta org deployments
Many MSPs use ZeroConfig to accelerate the deployment of new Okta orgs. We offer a pre-built template that completes most of the New Org Setup baseline configuration, with a few procedures to complete manually at the end. Get detailed instructions to successfully use this method.
