Lead Source Settings: Managing Lead Sources

Written by ZevBit Software

Overview

The Lead Source tab in the Settings page allows users to manage and track where leads are coming from.

A lead source represents the origin of a lead, such as Google, Facebook, Website, Referral, or Email. Tracking this information helps businesses understand which marketing channels are most effective in generating leads.

Why Lead Sources Are Important

  • Identify how customers discover your business

  • Measure marketing performance

  • Track effective channels for lead generation

  • Improve decision-making for future campaigns

Accessing Lead Source Settings

To access this section:

  • Go to Settings from the left menu

  • Click on the Lead Source tab

This page displays the list of lead sources currently available in the system.

Where Lead Sources Are Used

Once lead sources are added in settings, they are used in the CRM:

  • While creating a new client/lead, there is a default question:
“Where did this client come from?”

  • This question includes a dropdown that displays all lead sources created in this section

  • Any new lead source added here will automatically appear in that dropdown

Lead Source List Overview

On this page, users will see a list of all lead sources with the following columns:

  • Lead Source Name

  • Created Date

  • Created By (team member or admin)

  • Actions (Edit / Delete)

Additional Features

  • Users can drag and drop lead sources to rearrange their order

  • The order will reflect in the CRM dropdown

Adding a New Lead Source

To add a new lead source:

  1. Click the “+ Add” button

  2. A pop-up will appear with the Lead Source Name field

  3. Enter the name (e.g., Website, Facebook, Referral)

  4. Click Add

Result

  • The new lead source will appear in the list

  • It will also be available in the CRM when adding a new client in the qualifying question "Where Did This Client Come From?"

Editing and Deleting Lead Sources

Edit

  • Click the pencil icon in the list

  • Update the lead source name

  • Click "Confirm" to save changes

Delete

  • Click the delete icon to remove a lead source

  • If a lead source is already used in existing clients:

    • It will be removed from the settings list

    • BUT it will still remain visible in those client records

    • Example:
      If “Website” is deleted:

      • It disappears from the dropdown for new leads

      • Existing clients will still show “Website” as their lead source

Summary

The Lead Source tab helps you:
