The Labor Tasks feature is where you add and manage the labor needed to complete a line item. Each task captures the time and cost so your estimate accurately reflects the work involved.

Note: If you used a template to create the line item, labor tasks may already be auto-populated with suggested man hours. You can keep these values or adjust them based on your crew size and experience.

Understanding the Labor Tasks Table

Each labor task shows the following columns:

  • Man Hours — total hours calculated based on workers, days, and hours entered

  • Workers — number of crew members assigned to this task

  • Cost/Hr — your labor cost per hour

  • Total Cost — the total labor cost for this task

  • Breakeven/Hr — the minimum hourly rate needed to cover costs

  • Net Profit — your profit margin percentage

  • Price/Hr — the hourly rate charged to the client

  • Price — the total price charged to the client for this task

Adjusting Auto-Populated Labor Tasks

If your line item was created from a template, labor tasks will already be filled in with suggested values. These are starting points — not fixed numbers. You can adjust any task to match how your crew actually works:

  • Change the number of workers based on your team size

  • Update the days and hours based on your experience with similar projects

  • Modify the cost per hour to reflect your actual labor rates

Tip — Updating one task vs all tasks:

  • Click the man hours or workers value on a specific row to open the Edit Days or Hours panel for that task only. Changes will apply to that row alone.

  • Click the man hours or workers value highlighted in blue at the bottom of the table to update all labor tasks across the entire line item at once. Use this when your crew size or schedule applies to every task.

What Happens Next

Once labor tasks are complete, move on to the Subcontractors feature if any part of this line item will be handled by an outside contractor.
