How to Use Revert to Calculated and Edit Material Values

J
Written by Jorge Arias Silva

The Materials section lets you review and update values inside a line item, such as quantity, unit, unit cost with tax, and net profit.

Note: If the line item was created from a template, some values may already be auto-populated. You can keep them or adjust them as needed.

Editing material values

Open the estimate and expand the line item you want to update. Go to the Materials tab.

You can update the following fields directly:

  • Quantity — the amount of material needed

  • Unit — how the material is measured

  • Unit Cost with Tax — the cost per unit including tax

  • Net Profit — the profit percentage applied to pricing

When you manually change a value that was previously auto-calculated, the system treats it as an override and stops recalculating that field automatically.

Reverting to the calculated value

If you manually changed a calculated value and want to restore it:

  1. Hover over the arrow icon next to the edited value

  2. Click Revert to Calculated

The system will return the field to its original calculated value, and automatic calculations will resume for that field.
