Before using the Time Tracking feature in ZevBit, some setup must be completed to ensure employees have the correct access and their time is recorded properly.
This article outlines what needs to be in place before getting started. For step-by-step instructions, follow the linked Help Center articles in each section.
1. Employee Setup (Account, Role, and Configuration)
Each employee must be properly set up in the system. This includes:
Creating and activating the employee profile
Assigning a role with Time Tracking permissions (e.g., Clock In/Out)
Without this setup, employees may not be able to access or correctly use Time Tracking.
Note: An employee profile gets active when your employee set ups a password after receiving the invitation email to use the app. Then, they will be able to log in and clock-in to a project.

2. Project or Task Availability
Employees must have access to a project in their schedule to clock in.
If no project is assigned, they can use the default Company Shop/Tasks option.

3. Crew Setup (If Applicable)
If employees are part of a crew:
The system may allow:
Individual clock-ins, or
The Foreman to clock in the entire crew
This determines how time is recorded in the field.
Click "Team" Module Tab
Click "Crew" Filter Tab
Click the three-dot menu in the right of desired crew
Select the clock-in/out rule for the crew

4. GPS Permissions (If Required)
If GPS tracking is enabled by admin when employee user was created:
Employees must allow location access on their device to clock in.
Without GPS permission, clock-in will not be possible.
Note: Master admin can modify the GPS permission any time within the employee settings.
Click "Team" tab
Click three-dot menu (if the profile user is not created you can click Add employee button in the top right screen)
Select "Yes, Invite Ths employee as a user"
Confirm
Click Next
Click Save
In the "Update Permissions" modal scroll down to locate Time Tracking
Toggle on "Allow user to clock in & out
Toggle on or off "Require GPS location access to clock in"

Summary
Before using Time Tracking, make sure:
Employees are fully set up (account, role, and configuration)
Projects or tasks are available
Crew settings are configured (if applicable)
GPS permissions are enabled (if required)
Once these are in place, employees can start tracking time accurately.
