Saved pre-built templates help you build estimates faster by giving you a ready-made line item with sections already organized for you. Once a template is added to the estimate, you can review each feature and update the details based on the project's needs.
What You Will See After Adding a Template
Once the template is added, the line item opens with multiple features across the top. These features organize the line item details and calculation inputs for that specific template.
Depending on the template, you may see features such as:
Main
Excavation
Base
Other
Equipment
Profit
Top Features — Line Item Details
Main
The primary details for the line item. In the pavers example, this includes fields such as:
Square feet of pavers
Type of pavers
Linear feet of border pavers
Note: Some fields open additional options depending on the values entered. For example, adding border pavers may reveal extra fields such as border square footage. The template adjusts automatically based on your project setup.
Excavation
Review and update excavation-related details such as access type, excavation depth, and other site conditions. These selections help the template calculate labor, materials, and pricing more accurately.
Base
Review the foundation details for the project, including the type of base, base depth, tons of base material, bedding layer, sand, and other supporting items. Many of these values are calculated automatically based on the project measurements and selections made in the template.
Other
Additional items that support the project but don't fall into the main installation steps. In the pavers example, this may include:
Delivery fee
Pickup of pavers and supplies
Pallet counts
Bags of poly sand
This section captures supporting costs that are still part of the estimate.
Equipment
Review equipment needs for the project, such as:
Mobilization hours
Owned or rented equipment
Rate or hourly cost
Material pickup time and additional equipment usage
Profit
Review how the estimate is being priced before sending it to the client. This section may include:
Price per square foot
Total cost
Gross profit
Expected overhead
Commission and overall profit detail
Bottom Features — Full Line Item Breakdown
Below the top features, you will see a second row of features connected to the selections made above:

Labor Tasks
Subcontractors
Equipment
Client Description
Crew Notes
Materials
Shows the materials included in the template based on the options selected above. Quantity, unit, and cost are displayed automatically using the values already configured in the system.
Labor Tasks
Shows the labor steps needed for the project. In the pavers example, this can include tasks such as excavation, base preparation, and paver installation — each with estimated man-hours and total labor hours.
Subcontractors
Used when part of the work will be handled by an outside contractor. Add subcontracted work here to include it as part of the estimate.
Equipment
Review additional equipment details connected to this line item.
Client Description
The customer-facing description built from the template details. This is what explains the scope of work clearly in the proposal.
Crew Notes
For internal use only. Add work instructions, internal reminders, or notes meant for the team — not visible to the client.
What Happens Next
Once the template is added, review each section, update the values based on the project, and make sure the estimate reflects the client's actual needs.
