Add equipment catalog

Overview

The Equipment tab in the Catalog allows users to add and manage all the equipment required to create an estimate.

  • Add equipment required for the project

  • Define whether the equipment is purchased or rented

  • Include equipment cost in the overall estimate

This helps in generating accurate project costing.

To access the Equipment tab, go to Settings → Catalog and click on the Equip. tab


Top Section

  • Search Bar

    • Search by:

      • Equipment category

      • Equipment name

  • Add Category Button

    • Used to create a new equipment category


Equipment Categories List

  • Users will see a list of equipment categories.

  • Categories are expandable

  • When expanded, they display:

    • List of equipment under that category


Adding a New Equipment Category

  1. Click Add Category

  2. A pop-up will appear with the following fields:

    • Category Name

    • Show Price (Toggle): If enabled, the equipment price will be visible in estimates

    • Editable on Estimate (Toggle): User can modify price & unit while adding equipment in an estimate

    • Custom Fields in Category

      • Cost (Default Field): Cannot be deleted or modified

      • Add Custom Fields

        • Users can add additional fields

        • Will appear in the equipment list

  3. Click Save to Catalog

  4. The category is added and visible in the list


Category-Level Options

Each category includes:

  • Add Button → Add new equipment

  • Edit Icon → Change the name of the category

  • Delete Icon → Delete the category

  • Expandable View → Show/hide equipment list


Adding Equipment to a Category

Each category has an Add button.

  1. Click Add under a category

  2. Enter:

    • Equipment Name

    • Cost

    • Unit (from dropdown)

    • Custom Field (If added)

Unit Options

Units depend on usage type, like:

  • Each → Purchase cost per unit

  • Hour → Rental cost per hour

  • Day → Rental cost per day

E.g. category: Heavy Equipment

  • Excavator → $100 / Hour

  • Bulldozer → $500 / Day

Edit/Delete

Edit: To edit the equipment, click on the column value, which will make it editable.

Delete: To delete the value, click on the checkbox which makes the delete button visible.


How Equipment is Used

While creating an estimate:

  • Users select equipment from this catalog

  • Equipment cost is added to:

    • Project estimate

    • Total job costing

  • Organize equipment into categories

  • Define cost and usage units

  • Include equipment in estimates

  • Improve cost accuracy for projects
