Understanding the Budget Page Layout (Simple Budget)

Written by ZevBit Software

The Simple Budget page uses the same overall structure as the Detailed Budget, but with simplified inputs and calculations inside each tab. This layout is designed to help you move quickly through the budgeting process while still maintaining full visibility of your numbers.

Top Navigation & Controls

At the top of the page, you’ll find the main navigation elements:

  • Back Button (top left)
Takes you back to the main Budget list, where all company budgets are displayed.

  • Budget Name & Edit Icon
Displays the current budget name (e.g., Simple Budget 2026).
The pencil icon allows you to rename the budget.

  • Status Indicator (top right)
    Shows whether the budget is:

    • Draft (not set as default), or

    • Default (used across the system)

  • Save Budget Button
Allows you to save your changes. You will be prompted to choose whether to save as:

    • Draft

    • Default (only one default budget is allowed)

Summary Bar / Tab Navigation

Directly below the header is the summary bar, which also functions as the main tab navigation.

Each tab represents a major cost category:

  • Field Labor

  • Equipment

  • Overhead

  • Materials

  • Subcontractors

  • Overhead Recovery

  • Sales Goal

Key behaviors:

  • Clicking any tab changes the content displayed below

  • Each tab shows a summary value (e.g., total cost or calculated result)

  • These values update automatically as you enter or modify data within the tabs
