To establish credibility in the marketplace and enhance search visibility, a winning approach is to specialize in a single category and offer similar products. This strategy enhances your authority within the chosen category while elevating your brand presence.

ZIK Analytics provides an exclusive Category Research tool designed to discover lucrative and popular product categories. This comprehensive guide demonstrates how to leverage the Category Research feature effectively.

Don't miss the tutorial video accompanying this guide for a visual walkthrough of the process!

Step 1: Find Categories and Sub-categories

To access the Category Research page, click the Category Research icon on the left side bar menu.

Here you can choose a different category from the Select Category dropdown menu.

You can also set other filters like Listing type, Shipping Location, Price, Feedback, and Exclude Phrases.

The Exclude phrase filter allows you to enter keywords or phrases to filter out the items that you do not wish to see. This is useful for hiding items that can otherwise pollute the search results for example; iPhones are a popular item but they can be a nuisance if you want to sell some other brand but keep seeing iPhones in the Smartphone category.

In the search box, enter a keyword, phrase, or sub-category for the items you want to find. Then click on the search button.

If you are looking for inspiration or want more details on some of the popular categories, you can scroll down a bit further.

Here you will find popular categories like Antiques, Art, and Baby along with their sub-categories. The sub-categories are arranged based on their ratings to help you quickly find the top-selling categories.

You can click on the More button to expand the list further. Take these ratings with a pinch of salt, as simply relying on the ratings is not the best advice. Experiment with different categories and sub-categories to figure out what works best for you.

Clicking on any sub-category will automatically populate the search box at the top with that name. Once you are done setting the filters, go ahead and click on the Search button.

Step 2: Find and Shortlist Items

ZIK Analytics will display an analysis page for the search as well as a list of all the items that fit your search criteria. You will find helpful category statistics such as the sell-through rate, the number of listings, the percentage of successful listings, sold products, and more.

Below the analysis, you will find all the relevant items. You can see the seller's name, total sales, product name, price, and more. You can scan the seller by clicking on the Scan Seller icon next to the seller’s name.

You also have access to the Item Finder tool (represented by the box icon) and the Scan Product tool (represented by a graph icon).

Click on the Filters button to shortlist the items further. You can set a Price range, and also activate the Dropshippers only, and Exclude Vero by checking the boxes.
