How do I use ACH?

Updated over a week ago

Why should I connect my bank account?

Connecting your bank account will serve as a payment method on your Zip account which can be used to make manual installment payments on your orders.

How should I connect my bank account in the Zip App?

You can connect your bank account from multiple locations in the Zip app. You can access the bank connection experience from the alerts banner on your homescreen, from your manual payment screens or within the payment method section on your account tab. We utilize Plaid to authenticate your account banking credentials and Dwolla to process payments through the Network.

How does Zip authorize ACH as a Payment Method on my bank account?

If you authorize ACH as a Payment Method to your Zip account, we partner with external providers Plaid & Dwolla to authenticate your account banking credentials and process your payments. During the ACH sign up process, you’ll need to read and agree to the third party vendor’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Any funds held in or transferred through your ACH account are held or transferred by the third party vendor’s financial institution partners.

What should I do if I cannot find my bank account in the connection list?

While we strive to support a wide range of banks, if you can't find your bank, please consider using an account from another bank to connect. Plaid is continuously expanding their supported banks, so your bank may be available in the future.

How do I know my bank account connection has been successful or failed?

If your bank account connection is successful, we will display a success screen with the details of your bank. You will also be able to view your bank account listed as a payment method under your account tab. However, if the bank connection has failed or times out, you will be notified to connect again or try at a later time.

Can I edit or delete my bank account?

Yes, you can replace or delete an already-linked bank account, as long as you do not have an installment that’s still processing an ACH payment. You can only have 1 bank account linked at any given time for now. ACH is available as a payment option to manually repay all remaining installments on your order except the first installment.

Can I use my bank account to make manual payments?

Yes! You can use your bank account to make manual installment payments on your order. There is usually a 2-5 day delay in processing bank account payments depending on your bank provider in which case you might notice a pending status on your payments.

Can I use my bank account to make scheduled payments?

Bank accounts cannot be used to make first installment payment or any scheduled installment payments at the moment.

Why can’t I use my bank account to pay for my first installment?

ACH is available as a payment option to manually repay all remaining installments on your order except the first installment. Zip plans to enhance its ACH payment option in the future so you can pay your first installment from your connected bank account, too.

Why can’t I use my bank account to repay multiple installments at the same time in the order screen?

Due to limitations in Zip’s connectivity with its ACH processor, we currently don’t allow customers to repay multiple installments via ACH at the same time. Zip is working to add this capability for ACH repayments in the future.

Will I be charged a late payment fee while my bank account payment is pending?

Your bank may take up to 2-5 days to clear a bank account payment. Please ensure you have sufficient funds in your account. If payment fails before the installment due date, we will attempt the default card on file on the scheduled due date. If payment fails after the due date, you will be liable to pay Zip the applicable late fee. If your bank payment fails, your financial institution may charge a fee outside of Zip's control.

Zip can only be used for US purchases. Certain merchant, product, goods, and service restrictions apply.

Loans through Zip Pay Anywhere and Zip Web Checkout (including any "powered by Zip" loans) are originated by WebBank, except for Zip-originated loans in CO, MA, MD, and NV. All loans are subject to credit approval.
