Before Completing Your Purchase
If you cancel your purchase request before completing your order, any associated pending charge should disappear within a few days.
After Completing Your Purchase
If your Zip order is canceled after you've completed your purchase—either by you or the merchant—Zip will process your refund as soon as the merchant issues it. This includes:
Refunding the amount you’ve paid so far
Canceling all future payments
This process can take up to 13 days from your order date, but refunds are typically processed before your second installment is due.
Checking Your Refund Status
To track your refund:
Sign in to the Zip mobile app
Tap Orders
View your Open orders
Once Zip receives your refund, it will reflect in your account.
Need More Time?
If your second installment is coming up and your refund hasn’t processed yet, you can Report a Return in the Zip app to delay your next payment by two weeks.
Example: Refund Process for a Canceled Order
Let’s say you made a $200 purchase, but the merchant cancels it due to lack of stock.
You already paid your first installment of $50 when placing the order.
You check the Zip app and still see the remaining three installments listed as due.
No worries! Once Zip processes the cancellation, here’s what happens:
The $50 you paid at purchase is refunded to your payment method.
The remaining three $50 installments are canceled.
Breakdown:
$50 paid at checkout → Refunded to your payment method*
$50 future payment → Canceled*
$50 future payment → Canceled*
$50 future payment → Canceled*
If you were charged a second installment before the refund was processed, contact Zip Support for assistance.
*For example, for a $335 purchase, you’d make four $85.25 payments every two weeks starting today for a 31.11% annual percentage rate and a total of payments of $341. A $6 installment fee is charged at commencement - you pay $1.50 of this fee as a prepaid finance charge when you make your initial payment today. The remaining $4.50 is included in your future payments. Actual installment fees vary and can range from $0 to $7.50 depending on the purchase price and Zip product used.
