Ask AI is the built-in AI workspace in ZipLeads - a conversational copilot that can generate content and images, carry out CRM actions, and read or update data in your account. This guide walks through prompting Ask AI, approving its proposed actions, training it on how you speak, and using templates, voice mode, skills, scheduled tasks and connectors.
1. Open Ask AI and start a new chat
Click Ask AI in the left menu of ZipLeads.
To begin a fresh conversation, click New chat at the top of the Ask AI sidebar (or Start a new chat if the workspace is empty).
Type your request into the Ask anything... box and send it.
Tip: Describe what you want in plain language - there's no need to navigate through menus and screens yourself.
2. Prompt Ask AI to book an appointment
In the Ask anything... box, type a prompt such as: "Please book an appointment on the Phone Appointments calendar with contact Daina Demo for 2pm Monday".
Send the prompt and wait while Ask AI thinks and gathers what it needs.
If it can't identify the calendar, it will offer a list of options or ask for the calendar ID.
Tip: You can find your calendar ID under Settings > Calendars.
3. Watch the workflow and confirm the appointment
Ask AI shows the to-do list it is working through (for example: find the calendar and contact, check available slots, confirm and create the appointment).
When it presents the proposed appointment, confirm it so the booking is created.
Tip: Once you confirm an action like this, Ask AI learns from it and will be quicker next time. You can also tell it not to ask for confirmation in future.
4. Train Ask AI on your wording
In the same chat, send a training instruction such as: "For future reference, when I say 'book a phone call' I am referring to bookings on the Phone Appointments calendar."
Ask AI saves this to memory and confirms it will use that calendar next time.
Open the contact record (for example Daina Demo) to check the appointment appears.
5. Send an SMS through Ask AI
Prompt Ask AI with something like: "Please send an SMS to Daina Demo that thanks her for her time today and lets her know we'll be in touch with the info she requested tomorrow."
Review the drafted message and approve it to send, or reply with changes first.
Open the contact card to confirm the message was sent.
6. Generate content such as ad copy
Start a new chat and give Ask AI a detailed content brief - for example Facebook ad text for a campaign, including the audience, location and key benefits to highlight.
Ask AI returns the ad copy plus quick tips you can use in the Ads Launcher tool.
To get artwork, reply asking it to generate an image; you can also upload your logo or reference images using the + button next to the prompt box.
Tip: The more detail you give in the brief, the more usable the output.
7. Stop a response mid-generation if needed
While Ask AI is generating, click the stop button at the right of the prompt box to halt it. Use this if you want to change your prompt or abandon the request.
8. Ask AI to analyse your account data
Start a new chat and ask a data question, for example: "Please review all contact conversations from 2026 and provide a summary of subject topics being discussed, specifically lead related."
Wait while it reads the conversations - larger reviews can take some time.
Read the overview it produces.
9. Ask for recommendations and dig deeper
Follow up in the same chat with, for example: "Based on these conversations, how would you improve our sales follow-up or marketing strategy?"
Review the recommendations it returns and keep replying in the same chat to explore any of them further.
10. Find, rename or delete past chats
Past conversations are listed under Recents in the Ask AI sidebar - click one to reopen it.
Use the options on a chat to rename or delete it.
Click Search in the sidebar to find a chat by name.
11. Use a ready-made template
Click Templates in the Ask AI sidebar.
Browse the categories (All, Communication, CRM, AI Agents, Integrations, Commerce & Payments, Social Media, Sales, Marketing, Memory) or use the Search templates box.
Pick a template and Ask AI will collect the information it needs, present choices and complete the workflow for you.
Tip: Templates are guided, step-by-step workflows - useful when you don't know every click for a task.
12. Talk to Ask AI with voice mode
Click the microphone button in the prompt box to start dictation and use voice mode. You can ask questions, trigger supported actions and receive spoken updates hands-free.
13. Create a skill so Ask AI works your way
Click Customize in the Ask AI sidebar, then choose Skills.
Create a new skill and answer the prompts: what the skill should do, when Ask AI should use it (the trigger description), and the steps to follow.
For example, a skill that creates a contact task whenever you say "set a reminder".
Tip: Fill in as much detail as you can - clearer instructions make the skill perform more consistently. Skills work in both text and voice chats.
14. Schedule prompts to run automatically
Under Customize, open Scheduled.
Create a scheduled task and fill in Task name, Description (optional), Prompt, Frequency and Time.
Click Create task to save it, then review the results when it suits you.
Tip: Use this for questions you'd otherwise ask Ask AI manually every day.
15. Connect third-party apps
Under Customize, open Connectors.
Click Manage Connectors to add a connected app or service.
Once connected, Ask AI can read, create, update or search within that service on your behalf.
