ZipLeads lets you schedule when a form, survey or quiz starts and stops accepting responses. You can choose exact opening and closing times and apply one time zone to the schedule. You can also create a custom page or a URL redirect for visitors who arrive outside the active window. This guide covers the schedule options, visitor states, setup steps, use cases and troubleshooting.
Existing forms, surveys and quizzes: Scheduling is optional. Your existing forms, surveys and quizzes keep working as before unless you turn on Schedule visibility.
What is scheduled availability?
Scheduled availability lets you set an active response window for a form, survey or quiz. You don't need to publish it and then remember to switch it off later. ZipLeads moves it automatically from Not open yet to Accepting responses and then to Closed, based on the schedule you set.
Visitors who arrive before the opening time or after the closing time can see a customised page, or be redirected to another URL. This means the same form, survey or quiz can follow the life of an event, promotion, webinar, contest, registration period or other time-sensitive campaign.
Key benefits
Scheduling cuts down on manual campaign management. It also gives visitors a deliberate experience at every stage. It's especially useful when submissions must start or end at a set time.
Automatic opening: Publish ahead of time and start accepting responses at the scheduled opening time.
Automatic expiry: Stop accepting new responses automatically when the deadline arrives.
Flexible scheduling: Open right away or on a specific date. Stay open indefinitely or close at a specific time.
Time zone control: Apply one time zone to both the opening and closing times.
Custom pre-launch experience: Give early visitors useful context instead of an unavailable form.
Custom expiry experience: Explain that submissions are closed, or guide visitors to a different next step.
Redirect options: Send visitors to another URL before opening or after closing.
Less manual work: No need to rely on someone switching things off at the campaign deadline.
Availability states and scheduling options
The scheduling controls decide when responses are accepted. They also show the current stage of the availability window. Knowing each option helps you avoid accidental early access or late submissions.
Setting | Option | Behaviour |
Opens | Right away | Accepts responses as soon as it's published and available. |
Opens | Pick a date | Waits until the selected date and time before accepting responses. |
Closes | Never | Has no scheduled closing time. |
Closes | Pick a date | Stops accepting new responses at the selected date and time. |
Time zone | Selected time zone | Applies to both the opening and closing times. |
Understanding the availability timeline
When you set scheduled dates, the timeline shows whether the current time is before the opening, inside the active response period, or after the closing deadline. The three states are Not open yet, Accepting responses and Closed.
Custom open and expiry experiences
Scheduling does more than allow or block submissions. You can set separate experiences for visitors who arrive too early or too late, and point them to the right next step.
Before the form, survey or quiz opens
A pre-open experience is handy when you share the URL before the campaign starts. Instead of showing the fields early, visitors can see a launch message, the opening time, instructions or another notice.
After the form, survey or quiz closes
The post-close experience appears after the closing time, once new submissions are no longer accepted. Use it to explain that registration has ended, share another offer, send visitors to a waitlist, or tell them what to do next.
Show a page vs. open a link
Each unavailable state can guide the visitor in one of two ways. Pick the one that best suits the next step in your campaign.
Option | Best for |
Show a page | Showing a customised message directly to the visitor using the built-in rich content editor. |
Open a link | Redirecting visitors to another page, offer, waitlist, event or URL. |
Tip: Use the built-in preview when you create a custom page. That way you can check the message is clear before the window opens or closes.
Common use cases
Scheduling is most useful when the response window should match a campaign launch or deadline. The visitor experience then backs up that timing, with no manual changes needed.
Use case | How scheduling helps |
Event registrations | Automatically close registrations when the event or webinar deadline passes. |
Flash sales | Limit a form or survey to the exact promotion window. |
Webinar launches | Publish early while showing a "registration opens soon" message. |
Quizzes and contests | Set a clear entry period and automatically stop new entries afterwards. |
Post-campaign traffic | Redirect late visitors to a waitlist, another offer, a landing page or an upcoming event. |
Coupon promotions | Block new submissions after the promotion ends. |
How to set up scheduled availability
A complete schedule has three parts: the active response window, the right time zone, and what visitors see outside that window. Set up and preview all three before you share your form, survey or quiz.
Step 1: Open the form, survey or quiz
Scheduling is set on each item, so different forms, surveys and quizzes can have different windows.
Go to Sites.
Open Forms, Surveys or Quizzes.
Open the item you want to schedule.
Step 2: Turn on Schedule visibility
The scheduling controls stay inactive until you turn on Schedule visibility. This lets your existing unscheduled items keep working as normal.
Open the Settings tab.
Find the form, survey or quiz settings.
Turn on Schedule visibility.
Step 3: Set the opening and closing window
The opening and closing controls set the exact period when visitors can submit responses.
For the opening time, choose Right away or Pick a date.
If you chose Pick a date, select the opening date and time.
For the closing time, choose Never or Pick a date.
If you chose Pick a date, select the closing date and time.
Step 4: Select the time zone
The time zone applies to both scheduled times. Make sure it matches the time zone you use when telling people about deadlines.
Open the Time zone selector.
Select the time zone for the opening and closing schedule.
Step 5: Set what visitors see before opening
A clear pre-open message stops visitors thinking something is broken.
Expand Before the form opens, Before the survey opens, or the matching quiz option.
Choose Show a page to create a custom message, or Open a link to redirect visitors.
If you're using a page, customise the content visitors will see.
Preview the result.
Step 6: Set what visitors see after closing
The expiry experience gives late visitors a clear next step once new submissions are blocked.
Expand After the form closes, After the survey closes, or the matching quiz option.
Choose Show a page or Open a link.
Set up the message or destination.
Preview the result.
Step 7: Save and test
Testing the whole flow helps you catch time zone mistakes, wrong dates or mismatched messages before the window opens.
Click Save.
Review the timeline.
Preview the visitor experience.
Check the opening and closing dates and the time zone.
Publish or share the form, survey or quiz as you normally would.
Troubleshooting
Most scheduling issues come down to three checks: is scheduling turned on, is the time zone right, and does the current time fall inside the window?
Issue | What to check |
It's accepting responses earlier than expected | Make sure the opening option isn't set to Right away, and check the scheduled date, time and time zone. |
It still accepts responses after the deadline | Make sure the closing option is set to Pick a date, not Never, and check the time zone. |
Visitors see the pre-open page when it should be open | Compare the current time with the opening time in the selected time zone. |
Visitors see the closed page too early | Check the closing date, closing time and time zone for a wrong value. |
The wrong message appears | Check you edited the right state: before opening or after closing. |
The redirect goes to the wrong place | Check the URL under Open a link and test it on its own. |
An existing form, survey or quiz changed unexpectedly | Check whether Schedule visibility was turned on. Items without scheduling keep their existing behaviour. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does scheduled availability work with forms, surveys and quizzes?
Yes. Schedule visibility is available for all three.
Q: Do I have to set both an opening date and a closing date?
No. You can open Right away or on a specific date, and you can set it to Never close or close on a specific date.
Q: Does one time zone apply to both opening and closing?
Yes. The selected time zone applies to both times.
Q: What happens when the closing time is reached?
New submissions are blocked automatically, and visitors see the after-close page or redirect you set up.
Q: Can I redirect visitors instead of showing an unavailable message?
Yes. Choose Open a link for the before-open or after-close state and enter the destination URL.
Q: Can I use different experiences before opening and after closing?
Yes. The pre-open and post-close states are set up separately, so each can have its own page or redirect.

No. The closing time only controls whether new responses are accepted. Existing submissions aren't deleted.
Q: What happens if I turn off Schedule visibility?
The form, survey or quiz goes back to its normal availability, without the scheduled opening and closing window.
