Connecting your Google Business Profile (GBP) lets you manage reviews, messages and your online reputation right inside ZipLeads. You'll never miss a customer interaction from Google Search or Maps, and all your communication and reputation management sits in one place. In this article, you'll learn what the GBP integration is, its key benefits, how to set it up (with screenshots), and answers to common questions.

What is Google Business Profile integration?

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is a free tool from Google. It lets businesses manage how they appear across Google Search and Maps. When you connect GBP to ZipLeads, your customer messages, reviews and reputation data sync into your account.

Once connected, all your Google customer interactions flow into ZipLeads. This helps you reply faster, manage your reputation better, and centralise your communications alongside other channels like SMS, email and Facebook.

Key benefits of Google Business Profile integration

Connecting GBP to ZipLeads is more than just linking accounts. It improves how you talk with prospects and customers by giving you visibility and tools right inside your account.

  • Centralised Reviews: New Google reviews sync into Conversations automatically, so you can reply without leaving ZipLeads.

  • Messaging Integration: Communication channels are added and linked to ZipLeads so messages sync (see Communication and Social channel connection with GBP).

  • Reputation Tracking: Monitor and manage reviews in the Reputation tab.

  • Increased Visibility: Keep your business profile active, which encourages customer engagement and helps your local SEO.

  • Streamlined Workflow: Manage Google interactions alongside your other integrations like Facebook, Instagram and SMS.

How to set up Google Business Profile integration

Setting things up properly means your Google reviews and messages flow smoothly into ZipLeads. Follow the steps below to connect and verify your GBP.

Open Settings

From the left-hand menu of your account, scroll down and click Settings. This is where you manage all your account settings, including integrations.

Access Integrations

In the Settings menu, click Integrations. This is where you connect outside tools and accounts, including Google Business Profile.

Connect Google Account

Sign in with your Google account and allow access. Once connected, the account will show a Connected status, which confirms the integration is active.

Note: Log in with the Google account that has Owner or Manager access to the GBP location(s).

Select Google Business Profile

In the Integrations tab, find Google Business Profile and click Connect. This starts linking your verified business profile to your ZipLeads account.

Note: Your business must already have a verified Google Business Profile to continue.

Choose Business Location

Select the right Google Business Profile location from the list. If there are several pages, tick the box next to the correct business before you connect.

Search and filter locations: Use the search dropdown to filter locations by:

  • Page Name

  • Store Code

  • Postal Code

  • Locality

If no locations appear, follow the on-screen guidance to connect a Google account that has access to the Google Business Profile locations you want to manage.

Enable Call Tracking

Turn on GBP Call Tracking if you want to track customer calls made through your Google Business Profile. This captures useful call data right inside ZipLeads.

Confirm Connection

After choosing your business and preferences, click Connect. This finalises the setup and links your Google Business Profile to ZipLeads.

Verify Connection Status

Once connected, you'll see your Google Business Profile icon at the top with a green Connected status and a refresh option to sync data. Below that, the Connected Pages section shows the business name that's linked. You can use Manage Pages to update locations, or Disconnect to remove the integration. At the bottom, you can check whether Call Tracking is enabled or disabled.

Review threads now show the associated page name

When Google Business Profile reviews appear in Conversations, each review now shows the associated page name in the thread. This gives you clearer context when more than one page is connected.

The page name also appears on outgoing review responses. That way you can quickly check which business page the conversation belongs to before you reply.

This is especially handy if you have several pages connected, where reviews from different Google Business Profile pages may appear in the same Conversations workspace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I connect multiple GBP locations to ZipLeads?
Yes. You'll need to repeat the connection steps for each location, using the same or different Google accounts with the right access.

Q: What happens if my connection fails?
If the Google connection shows as connected but features still don't work, check Settings → Integrations → Google for a missing-permissions warning. Open the warning, review the missing permissions and affected features, then click Reconnect to grant the missing permissions in Google.

Q: Do reviews and messages sync instantly?
Yes. Once connected, reviews and messages appear in Conversations in near real time.

Q: Can I disconnect my GBP later?
Yes. Go to Settings > Integrations and click Disconnect next to your Google Business Profile.

Q: Do I need a verified GBP before connecting?
Yes. Your business must be verified with Google before the integration will work.

Q: Does connecting GBP turn on Google Messaging automatically?
No. Google deprecated Google Business messaging in July 2024. You can now connect a WhatsApp number and a text number to your GBP pages. If those channels are connected to ZipLeads, their messages will sync.
