Use internal comments and @mentions in ZipLeads Conversations to work with your team inside a contact's thread. Your notes are never shown to the contact. This article explains what internal comments and @mentions are, and how to post them, filter them and get notified about them.

What are internal comments in Conversations?

Internal comments are private notes you add to a conversation thread. They are never sent to the contact, and the contact can never see them. When you type @ and pick a teammate, that person is mentioned and can be notified to review or act. This keeps handoffs tight and all the context in one place.

Internal Comments ≠ Internal Chat. Internal Chat is a separate team chat feature.

Note: Internal comments in Conversations can't be edited or deleted once posted.

Key benefits of internal comments in Conversations

These benefits help you decide when to use an internal comment instead of sending a message or switching to team chat.

  • Private collaboration: Keep sensitive notes and decisions out of the contact's view.

  • Targeted notifications: @mention the right teammate so they see the thread quickly.

  • Faster handoffs: Share context and next steps without leaving the conversation.

  • Searchable context: Find internal notes with filters to speed up QA and audits.
