The Courses learner experience controls and lesson auto-progression in ZipLeads make it easier for learners to move through your course content with fewer interruptions. With autoplay, next-lesson playback and automatic completion options, you can design a smoother learning flow while still controlling how each course behaves. This article explains the available controls, how they affect the learner experience, and how to set them up for your courses.

What are learner experience controls and lesson auto-progression?

Learner experience controls and lesson auto-progression are a set of features that improve how learners start, continue and complete lessons in ZipLeads Courses. They include autoplay for video lessons, an Up Next card for moving to the next lesson, smart video completion, automatic completion for text lessons, and course-level settings that let you control how learners progress.

These features support both structured courses and self-paced learning. You decide whether learners begin automatically, continue from one lesson to the next, and have lessons marked complete as they move forward.

Key benefits

  • Less friction for learners: Videos can start automatically and lessons can continue with fewer clicks, so learners stay focused on the content.

  • Smoother lesson progression: The Up Next card shows learners what's coming next and lets them continue automatically or select Play Now.

  • Flexible course design: Per-course controls let you support guided learning, binge-style lesson playback, or more deliberate manual progression.

  • Fewer manual completion steps: Text lessons can be marked complete when learners move forward, so completion clicks aren't missed.

  • More consistent course experiences: Apply to All Courses lets you quickly standardise learner experience settings across multiple courses.

  • Cleaner progress tracking: Automatic completion helps reduce missed manual completion steps. This is useful when course progress drives certificates or completion-based workflows.

How to set up learner experience controls and lesson auto-progression

Setting these up properly makes sure your course behaves the way you want before learners start working through it. Review these controls before you publish or update a course so the learner flow matches your pacing, completion rules and content structure.

  1. Go to Memberships in ZipLeads. From the top menu, select Courses → Products.

  2. Open the Course you want to update.

  3. Click Settings, then go to the Learning Experience Controls section.
Learner Experience Controls are course-level settings that let you decide how automated course progression should be. They're useful when different courses need different pacing, such as a guided onboarding course compared with an evergreen self-paced training program.

  4. Configure the available learner experience settings:

    • Turn on 'Auto-Start First Lesson' to automatically begin the first lesson when a learner enters the course.

    • Turn on 'Auto-Play Next Lesson' to let lessons continue automatically.

    • Turn on 'Auto-Complete Lessons' to mark lessons complete as learners progress.

  5. Use 'Apply to All Courses' to apply the same learner experience settings across your course catalogue.

Tip: This is useful when you want consistent autoplay and auto-completion behaviour across multiple courses without updating each one individually.

  6. Save your changes, then preview the course as a learner and test it.

Note: Learner experience features are turned on by default, so you get a smoother course experience straight away. You can customise or override these settings for each course using the Learner Experience controls.
