Email templates in ZipLeads help you create consistent, professional emails without rebuilding the same design every time. You can edit existing email templates to update your messaging, change images, adjust layouts and keep your brand looking the same. The ZipLeads Email Builder gives you tools to customise templates for different campaigns and audiences. This guide explains how to edit an email template, save your changes, and preview and test your email before you use it.

What is email template editing?

Email template editing lets you change the content, look and layout of an existing email template without starting from scratch. Templates can contain reusable elements such as headers, footers, text, images, buttons and branding. By updating an existing template, you can keep your emails consistent while adapting the content to different campaigns or business needs.

The ZipLeads Email Builder supports visual editing through the Design Editor. You can customise individual elements and arrange your email layout without writing any code.

Key benefits of editing email templates

Editing existing email templates helps you keep your brand consistent and saves time on creating new emails. Reusing and updating templates also makes it easier to keep your messaging relevant and give recipients a consistent experience.

  • Save time: Update an existing email template instead of designing a new email from scratch.

  • Keep your brand consistent: Keep your logos, colours, fonts and layouts the same across all your emails.

  • Customise content: Update text, images, buttons and other elements to suit different campaigns or audiences.

  • Improve your email design: Adjust spacing, alignment and layout to create professional-looking emails.

  • Reuse existing designs: Create reusable email layouts that you can adapt for future campaigns.

  • Reduce errors: Preview and test updated templates to catch formatting issues, incorrect links or missing content before you send.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I duplicate an email template before making changes?

Duplicating a template is handy when you want to keep an existing design while creating a different version. Check the options in the template's action menu. If a duplicate option is available, make a copy before editing so you keep the original template.

Q: Can I recover a previous version of an email template?

Yes. The ZipLeads Email Builder supports Version History for reviewing and restoring saved versions, when the feature is available. Open the email editor and go to Version History to see the available versions.

Q: Can multiple team members edit the same email template?

Team members with the right account permissions may have access to the same template. To avoid overwriting each other's changes, coordinate your edits and check the latest saved version before making big updates.

Q: Does editing an email template automatically send an email to my contacts?

No. Editing and saving a template doesn't send anything. Sending needs a separate campaign or a properly set up workflow.

Q: Can I edit a template without changing its original version?

You can keep the original by creating a separate version, where a duplicate or save-as-new option is available. When you edit a template inside a workflow, keeping continuous synchronisation turned off stops workflow-specific changes from automatically updating the source template.
