This article explains how to set up a popup that appears automatically after a visitor lands on a Funnel or Website page. ZipLeads supports multiple popups on the same page, and each popup can have its own trigger, including a time delay. This helps boost conversions by grabbing attention straight away, without waiting for the visitor to click or scroll.
What Is a Popup That Shows on Page Load?
A page load popup is a message or form that appears automatically shortly after a visitor arrives on your website or funnel page. The visitor doesn't need to click or scroll. It's triggered by a timing setting (like a 2-second delay) and is used to catch the visitor's attention early. It's commonly used to promote time-sensitive offers, capture leads or show welcome messages that encourage action early in the visit. If a page has multiple popups, you set the delay separately for each one.
Key Benefits of Using a Page Load Popup
Automation: Launch popups automatically, without the visitor needing to click anything.
Lead generation: Great for growing email lists or offering limited-time deals the moment someone lands.
Conversion optimisation: Use immediate popups with time-sensitive calls to action to boost funnel conversions.
Behaviour targeting: Choose exactly when the popup appears with a customisable delay timer.
Broad compatibility: Works on both Funnels and Websites in ZipLeads.
How to Set a Popup to Show on Page Load
ZipLeads supports multiple popups on the same Funnel or Website page. Each popup can have its own content, styling and trigger.
The available trigger options are:
Delay: shows the popup after the number of seconds you set.
Exit Intent: shows the popup when the visitor's cursor movement on desktop suggests they may be leaving the page.
None: keeps the popup available for manual triggers, such as a button, image or text link.
If multiple popups use the same trigger, the popup with the higher priority in the Popup Settings panel appears first.
Follow these steps to set up a popup that appears automatically after someone lands on a page.
Step 1: Go to Popup Settings
In the left-hand menu of your account, click Sites. Then choose the Funnels or Websites tab in the top navigation bar.
Open your funnel or website and click the step or page where you want to add the popup.
Click the blue Edit button to open the page editor.
In the top menu bar of the builder, click the Popup Settings icon to open the popup settings.
Step 2: Configure the Popup Settings
In the Popup Settings panel, select the popup you want to set up. Open its Settings tab, then under Show Popup On, select Delay.
Enter the number of seconds to wait before the popup appears.
Save or publish the page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I set the popup to show only once per visit or session?
The popup settings currently focus on trigger types such as Delay, Exit Intent and manual triggers. Session-level display limits aren't part of the current popup setup.
Q: What if I want the popup to show when someone tries to leave?
Use the Exit / Exit Intent trigger under Show Popup On. This shows the popup when the visitor's cursor movement on desktop suggests they may be leaving the page.
Note: Exit-intent detection relies on mouse cursor movement. It works on desktop, but doesn't work the same way on mobile touchscreens.
Q: Can I use this on both Funnels and Websites?
Yes. Popup triggers work in both Funnels and Websites in the ZipLeads page builder.
Q: What happens if the popup is opened manually before the delay time is reached?
If the same popup is opened manually before the delay timer finishes, the delayed display is cancelled for that page view. This stops the popup from appearing twice.
Q: Can I use more than one popup on the same page?
Yes. ZipLeads supports multiple popups on the same Funnel or Website page. Each popup can have its own content, styling and trigger.
Q: What happens if multiple popups use the same trigger?
The popup with the higher priority in the Popup Settings panel appears first.
