Overview

Smart Send helps you send emails at the best possible time to boost engagement.

It looks at recipient activity (opens, clicks and events) from the past 60 days. It then recommends when your audience is most likely to interact with your email.

Smart Send is the fifth option on the Send & Schedule screen. It helps lift open and click rates without the guesswork. You can still accept or override the recommendation.

What is Smart Send?

Smart Send works out the best possible time to send emails for the most engagement.

It studies your audience's activity patterns, such as when they usually open or click emails. It then suggests the time most likely to get higher engagement.

To keep its recommendations accurate, Smart Send needs:

  • At least 1,000 delivered emails from your account in the last 60 days.

If your account is eligible, you'll see a recommended send time on your Send & Schedule screen.

Benefits

  • Higher engagement: Improves open and click rates by sending emails when people are most active.

  • Built in: Smart Send is part of the existing Send & Schedule flow, so there's no extra setup.

  • Flexibility: You can accept the recommendation or manually override it with a custom time.

  • Useful insights: After sending, analytics show how Smart Send performed against your usual engagement rates.

How to use Smart Send

  1. Go to Marketing → Email Builder.

  2. Click Campaigns and create a new campaign.

  3. After creating your campaign, click the Send or Schedule button.

  4. Select the Smart Send option.

  5. Fill in all the fields, then click Get Recommendation. The system analyses your engagement data.

  6. Launch your campaign. Once it's sent, check your analytics to see the engagement lift from Smart Send.

How it works

  1. The system reviews your recipients' email activity data (opens, clicks and engagement events) from the past 60 days.

  2. Based on that data, it predicts the best time to send future campaigns.

  3. The recommended send time is shown before you schedule, so you can:

    • accept it and use Smart Send, or

    • override it with a custom date and time.

  4. After the campaign is sent, your analytics dashboard shows the engagement lift percentage. This is how much better Smart Send performed compared to your average results.

How Smart Send behaves

Scenario

What happens

Not eligible

Smart Send is disabled (greyed out). A progress bar shows the minimum requirement (1,000 delivered emails in the last 60 days).

Recommended time is in the past

If a campaign was saved earlier and its recommended time has passed, you'll be prompted to click Try New Suggestion to refresh the calculation.

Error getting the recommendation

A banner shows "Something went wrong. Please try again." so you can fetch the recommendation again.

No recommendation available

A warning asks you to manually choose a custom time and date.

Recipients changed after the recommendation

Clicking Try New Suggestion runs the analysis again straight away, using the new audience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I override the Smart Send recommendation?
Yes. You can choose any custom send time if you'd rather not use the recommendation.

Q: What happens if the suggested time has already passed?
You'll be prompted to click Try New Suggestion, or the system will automatically move to the next closest available time.

Q: What if my account doesn't have enough data yet?
If your account has fewer than 1,000 delivered emails in the past 60 days, Smart Send will be disabled. Keep sending regular campaigns. Once you pass the threshold, Smart Send unlocks automatically.
