Connect Ask AI to your favourite apps and teach it your workflows, with full control over every tool and instruction.

What you'll learn

Ask AI Connectors let you link Notion, Canva, GitHub, HubSpot or any Model Context Protocol (MCP) app directly to Ask AI. You sign in once, choose which apps and tools it can use, and Ask AI works inside those accounts for you. Your credentials are never exposed.

Ask AI Skills let you spell out how you want work done. Write your own instructions or upload an existing playbook or SOP. Ask AI applies it automatically when your request matches, or when you call it with the / command in any text or voice chat.

What are Connectors?

Connectors let Ask AI work inside the apps you already use, such as Notion, Canva, GitHub, HubSpot or any other MCP app. You sign in with your own login, and Ask AI can read, create, update or search in the connected service on your behalf.

Every connector is linked to your own user in your account, so your credentials and tool choices stay private to you.

  • App browser in Ask AI: Open Customise → Connectors → Manage Connectors to browse and connect MCP apps without leaving Ask AI.

  • Per-app and per-tool control: Turn a whole connector on or off, or pick exactly which tools (for example, "create page" or "search database") Ask AI may use.

  • Browser Control connector: Turn on the Browser Control connector to let Ask AI open pages, click, fill in forms and complete multi-step tasks in Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc. This needs the Ask AI Chrome extension.

What are Skills?

Skills teach Ask AI how you want work done. A Skill is a named set of instructions that Ask AI applies whenever your request matches. You can also call it yourself by typing /skill-name in the composer. Skills work in both text and voice chats.

You can write a Skill from scratch, upload an existing markdown playbook, or ask Ask AI to create one during a chat. Once saved, a Skill joins your personal library and is matched automatically when it's relevant.

  • Write a Skill: In Customise → Skills, enter a name, a one-line "use when…" trigger and a markdown body describing the process Ask AI should follow.

  • Upload a Skill: Drop in a .md file and Ask AI reads it, names it and summarises it for you. Uploading the same file twice creates a numbered copy (for example, "PDF Processing 2") instead of overwriting the original.

  • Call it on demand: Type / in the composer to see your Skills library and pin a Skill to that message. This skips automatic matching.

  • Turn on, turn off or remove: A turned-off Skill stays in your library but Ask AI can't see it until you turn it back on. You can also delete a Skill for good.

  • Self-maintaining Skills: Say "save this as a skill" and Ask AI writes one. If a Skill turns out to be wrong during a chat, Ask AI can fix it as you go, so it keeps getting better.

Security first: no credentials are stored or shown to the AI. Ask AI stores only a reference to your connected account. Access tokens are created for each call, never saved and never logged.

How to connect an app

Follow these steps to link a new connector to Ask AI and choose which tools it may use.

  1. Open the Connectors panel. Click the plus icon in the Ask AI sidebar, then select Connectors.

  2. Browse the apps. Click Manage Connectors to open the MCP app browser. Search or scroll to find the app you want, such as Notion, GitHub, Canva, HubSpot or Cal.com.

  1. Connect your account. Select the app and click Connect. You'll be taken to the service to sign in. Once you've approved access, the app appears in your Connected apps list.

  1. Set up tools (optional). Click the app name in Connected apps to see all the tools it offers. Turn All tools off to switch on only the actions you want Ask AI to use (for example, notion-search or notion-create-page).

  2. Turn on the connector. Flip the toggle next to the app name to Enabled. Ask AI will now use that connector when it handles your requests.

Quick tip: You can also reach the connector toggle from the composer + menu at the bottom of any Ask AI chat.

How to create or upload a Skill

There are three ways to create a Skill: let Ask AI write it, upload an existing document, or write it yourself. You can turn Skills on or off, or delete them, at any time.

Option 1: Create with Ask AI

  1. Start a chat and describe your workflow. In any Ask AI chat, say something like "Save this as a skill: When I ask you to generate a PDF report, use the following steps…" Ask AI will draft the Skill for you.

  2. Review and confirm. Ask AI shows you the Skill it wrote. Confirm to add it to your library, or give more detail to refine it.

Option 2: Upload a Skill file

  1. Go to Skills. Click Customise → Skills in the Ask AI sidebar.

  2. Upload your .md file. Click Upload a skill and choose a markdown file. Ask AI reads it, suggests a name and one-line summary, and adds it to your library. Uploading the same file twice creates a numbered copy (for example, "Report Generation 2").

Option 3: Write a Skill yourself

  1. Click Write skill instructions. In Customise → Skills, click Write skill instructions.

  2. Fill in the form. Enter a Name, a one-line Use when… trigger and a Markdown body with the full process Ask AI should follow.

  3. Save. Click Save. Your new Skill appears in the library and is turned on by default.

Managing Skills

Call a Skill on demand: In the Ask AI composer, type / and pick a Skill from the dropdown. That Skill is pinned to your message and automatic matching is skipped.

Turn off or remove a Skill: In Customise → Skills, toggle a Skill off to hide it from Ask AI without deleting it. Click the bin icon to delete it for good.

Fixing a Skill as you go: If a Skill gives the wrong result during a chat, Ask AI can fix it on the spot. Give feedback ("That didn't work; update the Skill to…") and Ask AI will update the Skill's instructions.

Security and reliability

Ask AI Connectors and Skills are secure by default and built to cope with common problems. Your credentials, tools and instructions belong to your own user and are never shared with anyone else.

Your library is yours. Skills and connector settings are tied to your user in your account and kept separate from other users.

No credentials in Ask AI. Ask AI stores only a reference to your connected account. Access tokens are created for each call, never saved, never shown to the AI and never logged.

A broken connector can't break your chat. Each app runs separately, so if one integration fails it's skipped for that reply while everything else keeps working.

Self-healing connections. If a connected account is changed or reconnected elsewhere in ZipLeads, Ask AI finds the working connection and fixes the saved setting by itself.

Privacy by design: No connector or Skill data is shared with other users. Your connections and instructions stay private to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are Connectors and Skills available to all ZipLeads users?
Connectors and Skills are part of Ask AI, which is available to all ZipLeads users. Some MCP apps may have their own sign-in or subscription requirements.

Q: How do I revoke access to a connector?
Toggle the connector off in Customise → Connectors, or disconnect it in Manage Connectors. You can also remove access from the other app's settings (for example, Notion's integrations page).

Q: What happens if I upload a Skill file twice?
Ask AI creates a numbered copy (for example, "Report Generation 2") instead of overwriting the original. You can then turn on, turn off or delete any version.

Q: Can I share a Skill with my team?
Skills currently belong to each user. To share one, copy the Skill's markdown body into a .md file and have your teammate upload it to their own Ask AI library.

Q: Does Ask AI use my connector credentials for training?
No. Connector credentials and access tokens are never logged, never shown to the AI model and never used for training. Ask AI only sees the data the tool sends back, which it uses to complete your request.

Q: What is the Browser Control connector?
Browser Control lets Ask AI open pages, click, fill in forms and complete multi-step tasks in a supported Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc). You need to install the Ask AI Chrome extension to turn on this connector.

Q: How does Ask AI decide which Skill to use?
Ask AI compares your request with the "use when…" triggers of all your turned-on Skills. If more than one matches, it picks the best fit. You can override this by calling a Skill with /skill-name.
