What's new?
You can now choose whether your products are tax inclusive or tax exclusive. This makes sure the right tax convention is followed for your business.
You can set this for all new products in the global settings (Payments > Settings > Taxes). You can also set it for a single product when you create or edit that product.
At the global level, there are 2 options: Tax Inclusive or Tax Exclusive. You choose one by answering Yes or No to the question "Include tax in prices".
At the product level, there are 3 options: Follow Global settings, Tax Inclusive or Tax Exclusive. These are the answers to the question "Include tax in prices".
If you don't make a choice at the global level, the default is Tax Exclusive.
All products created in the past are set to "As per Global settings" by default. This means that when you change the global settings, these products change too. You can switch any of these products to inclusive or exclusive. Doing so unlinks them from the global settings, so they keep their own tax setting even if the global settings change later.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Can I switch between tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive pricing after setting up my pricing?
Yes, you can switch between tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive pricing in ZipLeads. Be aware that changing the pricing model may affect existing invoices or quotes. We recommend reviewing any outstanding transactions before you make changes.
2. How does changing my pricing model affect existing subscriptions or recurring payments?
If you change your pricing model (from tax-inclusive to tax-exclusive, or the other way around), it could affect existing subscriptions or recurring invoices. You may need to adjust existing subscriptions manually so they reflect the new pricing and apply the correct tax amounts.
3. What happens if a customer is in a region with different tax rates but I've set tax-inclusive pricing?
If your customer is in a region with different tax rates, ZipLeads will calculate the tax using that region's rate. The total price shown to the customer stays the same, because tax is included in the price. You may need to adjust your pricing strategy if you operate in more than one tax jurisdiction.
4. Can I apply tax-inclusive pricing to some products and tax-exclusive pricing to others in the same account?
ZipLeads lets you set a global pricing model for your account. If you need different pricing models for individual products or services, you may need to manage them separately by using different products or subscription plans, each with its own pricing settings.
5. How are discounts applied when using tax-inclusive pricing?
With tax-inclusive pricing, discounts are usually applied to the total price, including tax. The discount reduces the overall price, and the final tax is recalculated based on the new total. With tax-exclusive pricing, discounts apply only to the base price before tax.
6. Can I manually adjust the tax amount on individual invoices?
Yes, you can manually adjust the tax amount on individual invoices in ZipLeads. Keep in mind that this might not match the automatic tax rules based on your pricing model or location settings.
7. How does ZipLeads handle tax for international customers?
ZipLeads uses region-specific tax rates for international customers if you have set up different tax zones. Make sure your tax settings are set up correctly to reflect different international tax rates based on where your customers are.
