Timezone Adaptation adjusts countdown timer deadlines based on the contact's or visitor's time zone. Emails use the contact's time zone when it's available. Funnels and websites use the visitor's time zone, detected from their IP address. If no time zone data is available, the timer uses its configured time zone as the fallback.
How the time zone is determined
The time zone source depends on where the countdown timer is shown.
Placement | Time zone source | Fallback |
Contact time zone | Timer's configured time zone | |
Funnel / Website | Visitor time zone detected from their IP address | Timer's configured time zone |
How to turn on Timezone Adaptation
For more information on creating a countdown timer, see Getting Started with Countdown Timer.
Go to Marketing → Countdown Timers and open the countdown timer you want to update, or create a new one.
In the timer settings, select the Time zone you want to use as the fallback time zone.
Tick the Adapt to Contact Time Zone box.
Save the timer. When the timer is used in a supported email, funnel or website, the matching time zone logic is applied.
For placement instructions, see Using Countdown Timers in Emails and How to Use Countdown Timers in Funnels.
