Used to rely on workflows to remind your customers to pay? You can now set payment reminders for your invoices directly from your invoice settings. This helps more of your invoices get paid.

What's new?

  • Set up multiple reminders by adding new reminders. Turn each one on or off with a toggle.

  • Delete a reminder if you no longer need it.

  • Choose how many reminders to send, customise the emails, and decide when they go out based on the invoice due date or sent date.

How to set up invoice reminders

  • Go to Settings within Invoices.

  3. Edit the Subject of your email.

  4. Set the reminder frequency: Every [X] [Days/Months/Hours...] [After/Before] [Invoice Due date/Invoice sent date].

  5. Set Maximum reminders to control when the reminders stop.

  • Delete a reminder if you need to, or just turn it off using the toggle.

How invoice reminders behave

1. Reminder templates

  • The reminder template preview you see in your invoice settings is the exact template used for automatic reminders.

  • You can set up multiple reminders (for example, Reminder 1 and Reminder 2), each with its own timing.

  • Reminders only start sending after you turn them on.

2. Invoices that were already overdue

  • Automatic reminders do not apply to invoices that were already overdue before you turned reminders on.

  • Reminders are only sent for invoices created after you set them up.

  • You'll need to follow up on older overdue invoices manually.

3. Sending a reminder manually

  • You can manually send a reminder to customers with overdue invoices.

  • When you send one manually:

    • Selecting the contact fills in only the contact's details.

    • Invoice details (invoice amount, due date and invoice number) do not fill in automatically when you send from the manual message composer. You'll need to add them yourself.

  • We recommend sending manual reminders only when you need to, so your messages stay consistent with your reminder templates.

4. Invoice due date settings

  • Changing Invoice Due After (days) in Payment Settings only affects future invoices.

  • Existing invoices, including recurring invoices that have already been generated, are not updated.

  • Your changes only apply to invoices generated after you save the update.

5. Things to keep in mind

  • For invoices created before you turned on reminders, you'll need to send reminders manually.

  • Manual reminder emails won't fill in invoice details automatically, so double-check your message before sending.

  • Changing your due date settings doesn't affect existing invoices. Keep this in mind when setting up recurring billing.
