The Quiz Builder lets you create interactive quizzes that collect lead details, qualify intent and show a personalised outcome at the end. Quizzes can have multiple pages and question types. You can also add optional scoring and categories, and a customisable results page with messaging and calls-to-action.
You can build from scratch or use a template. Then publish with an embed code or a share link. Submissions can be mapped into custom fields and used to trigger workflows for segmented follow-up.
Key benefits of the Quiz Builder
Audience Segmentation: Use quiz responses and scoring to group contacts by outcome and intent.
Automation-Ready Follow-Up: Trigger workflows as soon as a quiz is submitted, so you can engage in real time.
Personalised Experience: Customise the results page with score tiers, sections and CTAs to guide next steps.
CRM Mapping: Map quiz outcomes (scores, tiers, categories) into CRM custom fields for ongoing segmentation and reporting.
Quiz Builder layout and navigation
Use the builder tabs to move between the main quiz areas:
Edit: Add questions, pages and design elements.
Settings: Set up quiz logic, results and integrations.
Notifications: Set up internal email notifications and Auto Responder emails.
Submissions: Review quiz response data without leaving the builder.
Reordering quiz elements
Reordering quiz elements helps you control the flow of questions and keeps the quiz clear for respondents. Clear drag feedback is especially handy in longer quizzes, where small layout changes can otherwise take more time.
To reorder quiz elements, click and drag an element to a new position in the builder. As you move it, ZipLeads shows a subtle shadow so you can see where it's going. It also scrolls automatically when you drag near the top or bottom of a longer quiz. This means you can move elements across the page without dropping them to scroll manually.
Quiz elements
There are lots of prebuilt quiz elements you can drag and drop. As well as the quick add elements, you can add any Contact or Opportunity Custom Field to the quiz.
Add Object Fields
Use Add Object Fields in the Quiz Builder to browse or search fields from supported objects. You can select multiple fields and add them together by clicking Add N fields, or by dragging the selected group onto the quiz canvas. Each field row shows its type and query key to help you pick the right field.

Note: Custom fields with the word "score" in their name are automatically treated by ZipLeads as numeric scoring elements. Keep this in mind when creating or adding custom fields to a quiz.
Scoring and categories
Scoring and categories are the "logic layer" of a quiz. They turn answers into a clear result, so the contact sees the right outcome on the results page.
Categories are the possible outcome groups your quiz can return. Think of them as labels for results (for example: "Beginner", "Intermediate", "Advanced", or "Service A vs Service B"). Answers can be tied to a category so the quiz knows which outcome the contact matches.
Scoring is the points system used to calculate a numeric result. Points are assigned to answer options, then added up to give a total score, category score or score tier (for example: 0–10 = Starter, 11–20 = Growth, 21–30 = Scale).
Schedule quiz availability
Scheduling controls when a quiz accepts responses. It's useful for timed assessments, campaigns, applications, or quizzes that should only be open for a set period.
You can optionally set an opening date and time, a closing date and time, and a time zone for the quiz. ZipLeads can also show a custom experience, or redirect visitors, if they open the quiz before it opens or after it closes.
Scheduling is optional. If scheduled visibility isn't turned on, your quiz keeps accepting responses as normal.
Results page
The results page is the last thing contacts see after submitting your quiz. It's where you show the outcome (such as a score, tier or category), explain what it means, and guide the contact to the next best step.
A strong results page boosts conversions because it links the quiz outcome to a clear recommendation (for example, booking a call, choosing the right offer, or starting the right nurture path). You can customise the results page to suit your needs and branding:
Edit the Header: Add your logo, business name and custom text. Adjust the layout, padding and background colour.
Configure Scores: Results are based on dynamic content. You can edit the text shown for each score tier (for example, Low, Medium, High).
Adjust Tiers: Set the percentage ranges that define each tier (for example, Low = 0–39%, Medium = 40–79%, and so on). You can also change the colour of each tier to represent the result visually (for example, red for low scores, green for high scores).
Add a Call-to-Action (CTA): Edit the CTA section to encourage the next step. For example, "Want to talk about your results? Book a call!" You can then link the button to your calendar, a product page or another resource.
Customise the Footer: Add a footer logo and social media links, and even make it sticky.
How to configure score tiers on the results page
Score tiers let you show different results content based on the contact's total score. This keeps results personalised without needing separate quizzes.
From the quiz editor, go to Settings, then select Edit Results Page.
Click Configure Score Tiers.
Edit the names, colours and ranges for each tier. You can also remove existing tiers or add new ones.
Submissions and CRM mapping
CRM Field Mapping writes a contact's quiz outcomes into contact custom fields. This includes the overall score and tier, per-category scores and tiers, and highest/lowest category details.
Once quiz data is mapped into the CRM, you can use it in several ways:
Segment Contacts: Filter or group contacts based on their quiz results.
Create a Smart List of contacts with "Overall Score ≥ 80".
Group contacts by "Fitness Tier = Beginner" for targeted messages.
Personalise Automations: Use quiz results to tailor follow-up workflows.
Send different nurture emails depending on the highest or lowest category.
Trigger actions when a category score crosses a threshold.
How to create a quiz
Step 1: Open the quiz editor
Go to Sites → Quizzes → + Add Quiz, or select a quiz to edit.
Step 2: Choose a template
Choose Start From Scratch or From Template. In the Template Library you can browse, filter and search for a template. Preview and activate one to load it into the Quiz Builder.
Step 3: Set up the quiz
Set up the quiz to suit your needs. You can add as many questions and pages as you like.
Add and Delete Pages: Pages appear in the order listed (Page 1 first, Page 2 second, and so on).
Add and Delete Elements: Elements must be added to a Page. You can drag and drop elements to reorder them within a Page, or move them to a different Page.
Edit Element: Click an Element to highlight it and open its settings in the Right Panel. Most Elements have a Question (the question shown to the person taking the quiz) and standard settings like the Query Key (to pre-fill the question from a URL parameter) and Required or Hidden. Each Element also has its own settings. For example, choice questions have Options, which also allow Jump To branching logic.
Notifications: Select the Notifications tab to set up quiz email settings. You can turn on an internal Email Notification and an Auto Responder for the person who submits the quiz.
You can set the subject, recipient email address, reply-to email address and sender name.
Quiz email notifications can include:
Quiz Submission PDF: Contains the submitted responses.
Quiz Results Page PDF: Contains the evaluated or scored results page.
Turn on Auto Responder if you want the quiz participant to receive the selected PDF automatically.
Categories: Click the Grid icon to open the category popover. Here you can add, rename and delete categories, then assign categories and scores to answer options.
The popover also explains how categories flow into the Result Page, so you know how category scores will be shown.
Styles & Options: Click the lines & dots icon on the right side of the Top Panel. Under Styles you'll find Layout, Footer, Colors & Background, and Miscellaneous. Layout includes spacing controls, such as the top margin, so you can adjust the space above your quiz content without custom CSS. Under Options you'll find On Submit (what happens when the quiz is finished), Facebook Pixel ID, Facebook Pixel Events, Quiz Settings and Footer HTML.
Element-Level Label Alignment: Element-level label alignment lets you set a different label position for each field, instead of one alignment for the whole quiz. Use it to fine-tune spacing and visual flow, especially in compact layouts. To set it, first select a question. In the right sidebar, use the selector arrows under Label Alignment to make your choice. On mobile, alignment automatically defaults to Top, so the layout stays clear and easy to use whatever your desktop settings are.
Step 4: Customise the results page
You can customise the results page to suit your needs and branding. For more information, see: Customizing Quiz Result Pages
Step 5: Integrate and publish
Once you've saved your quiz, click the Integrate button in the top-right corner. You have two options:
Embed: Copy the iframe code to embed the quiz directly on your website or funnel pages.
Link: Copy the direct link to share in emails, on social media or in conversations.
