What is a two-step order form?

A two-step order form splits checkout into two short screens. Step 1 usually collects contact and shipping details. Step 2 collects payment and finalises the order. Splitting checkout this way can reduce friction and improve conversions. You can add this form to any funnel step, so it's simple to start selling your products.

Key benefits of two-step order forms

  • Conversion optimisation: Breaking checkout into two short steps can lift completion rates by reducing form fatigue.

  • Flexible fields: Choose which fields are shown or hidden, and which are required or optional.

  • Cart Mode: Cart Mode and quantity limits let buyers pick exactly what they need while keeping totals clear.

  • Revenue boosters: Order bump support makes it easy to offer complementary items at checkout.

  • Clear configuration: Step-specific labels, headers and buttons keep your messaging on-brand and easy to follow.

Products setup (prerequisite)

Products must be attached to the funnel step before the two-step order form can show and charge for them. Follow these steps to make sure your products and prices are available in the form.

Tip: Create your products before you start. To learn more, see our article on creating and selling products.

  1. Go to Sites in the left navigation, open your Funnel, and select the funnel step you want to use.

  2. Open the Products tab on the right. Click + Add Product.

  3. Use the Product dropdown to select the item you want to sell, or click the inline text link to create a new product.

  4. Under Price, choose an existing price or click the inline text link to create a new price.

If you like, use Product Name Override to change how the product name appears on the order form, or Price Display Override to customise how the price is shown.

  5. Click Additional options to set how the product can be purchased:

    • Turn on Allow multiple quantity to let customers buy more than one unit.

    • Use Max per order to set the most a customer can buy in one order. You can set a limit from 1 to 999 units.

    • Choose whether the item is a Main product or Bump product.

  6. Repeat to add as many products as you need.

Adding the two-step order form to a funnel

Once products are attached to the step, follow these steps to add and set up the two-step order form element.

Step 1: Go to your funnel step

Go to Sites → Funnels, open your funnel, and select the step where you want to place the checkout.

Step 2: Add the two-step order form element

Click Add Elements (+) in the top-left. Under Order elements, select the Two-Step Order element and drag it into your design.

Step 3: Set up Step 1

Step 1 collects contact information and shipping details. In the element settings, open Form options and select Step 1. Here you can set:

  • Headline and sub-headline

  • Company name: Hidden, Optional or Required

  • Placeholders and display names for visible fields

  • Phone: Required, Optional or Hidden

  • Shipping: On or Off

  • Button text for moving on to Step 2

Step 4: Set up Step 2

Step 2 collects payment information and finalises the purchase. In the element settings, open Form options and select Step 2.

Here you can edit the labels, headers and button text for payment and confirmation.

Step 5: Other settings (optional)

Use these extra settings to control how products are shown, whether you offer add-ons, and whether buyers can apply discounts:

  • Enable cart mode (when available for your funnel version): Turn on Cart Mode to let customers buy multiple products from the same order form. Customers can pick the products they want and change quantities for products that have Allow multiple quantity turned on.
Without Cart Mode, the order form is for single-product selection. Cart Mode is available for supported V2 funnel order forms.

  • Product Description and Pricing: Choose whether product descriptions and pricing show on the order form. For recurring products, the description can show the price breakdown, including the setup fee, trial period, number of trial days and recurring payment details. Turn off Product Description if you don't want these details shown.

  • Turn on and set up an Order Bump. To learn more, see our article on using order upsells in forms.

  • Turn on Coupon Codes.

Step 6: Style the form

In the element settings, adjust the Button, Text and Background Colors to match your brand.

Step 7: Preview and publish

Before publishing your funnel, click the Preview button in the top-right corner to test your order form. When you're happy with it, click the blue Publish button.
