Sometimes, things don’t go exactly as planned, and that’s okay. If a scheduled loan repayment fails, Zirtue automatically moves the loan into Repayment Recovery mode to help get things back on track without extra stress or confusion.

From the Borrower’s Perspective

Repayment Recovery simply means we’ll try again automatically, you don’t have to create a new loan or reach out right away.

Here’s how it works:

Automatic Retries: Zirtue will make up to 2 attempts to process your payment. Each attempt happens 24 hours apart, giving your bank time to process deposits or clear any temporary holds.

Updating Your Payment Method: If your debit card was declined or has expired, you can update your card anytime in Settings → Payment Methods.

  • Once you add a new valid debit card, we’ll automatically retry your payment right away... no need to tap “Pay” again.

  • If you have more than one loan, any loan in repayment recovery will attempt a payment on the new card.

Notifications & Transparency: You’ll see clear updates in your Zirtue account about where your loan stands.

  • If it’s a problem with your card, we will explicitly ask you to verify you payment and retry.

  • If there’s a system or lender issue, we’ll let you know that the issue is not on your ends and that we are working on it behind the scenes.

What You Can Do:

  • Double-check that your debit card has sufficient funds.

  • Make sure your card is still active and not expired.

  • If your payment continues to fail after three attempts, our team will step in to review your account.

From the Lender’s Perspective

If your borrower’s payment fails, don’t worry, Zirtue’s system automatically steps in.

Here’s what to expect:

Automated Retry Process: Borrower repayments are retried automatically for up to three days.

  • You don’t need to take action, funds will be deposited to your debit card once the borrower’s payment goes through.

Status Updates: You can check the repayment status in your dashboard anytime.
If a loan is in Repayment Recovery, that simply means we’re still trying to collect payment from the borrower.

Communication: Borrowers receive notifications encouraging them to update their payment method. As soon as a repayment succeeds, your loan balance will update automatically.

What Happens After Three Failed Attempts

  • If all three repayment attempts fail, Zirtue may temporarily pause the loan and alert our Customer Experience team for review.

  • Borrowers can still log in, update their card, and trigger repayment manually once everything is fixed.

  • No additional fees are charged during this period the system just needs a working payment method.
