Updated over a week ago

What is a ZIN Jam Session?

A ZIN Jam Session is a 3-hour session led by a licensed Zumba® Jammer that allows ZIN™ Members to learn new choreos and boost instructor skills. A maximum of 30 ZIN™ Members per session allows for one-on-one interaction and personal feedback.

ZIN™ Jam Sessions consist of the breakdown of 4-5 choreographies to specific songs, and the practice of complete routines. By the end of the session, you should be confident enough in the new routines to immediately implement them in your Zumba® classes. Some time is dedicated to personal introductions and verbal tips on presentation.

By attending a ZIN™ Jam Session, you will get:

  • 4-5 distinctive choreo routines that you can immediately integrate into your classes

  • Valuable networking with fellow ZIN™ Members

  • Expert feedback and one-on-one interaction

  • Opportunity to enhance steps, skills, and techniques

  • Continuing education credits/units for AFAA or ACE

What are the four different types of ZIN™ Jam sessions?

  • Choreo ZIN™ Jam Sessions are designed to help you master your choreography, build your cueing library, and learn progressions. In the three-hour Choreo ZIN Jam session, you'll learn 4 to 5 new knockout routines to integrate into your Zumba® classes. You will refresh your skills, learn new ones, and get everything you need to be the best instructor you can be. You’ll be able to choose from sessions led by licensed Zumba® Jammers.

  • Stylistic ZIN™ Jam Sessions are designed to help you learn new stylistic choreos that express your individuality through movement and music.

    • The Get Down ZIN™ Jam Session is a stylistic variation where you’ll learn up to four new styles and routines to integrate into your Zumba® classes – all inspired by Hip-Hop, R&B, Funk and Pop. You’ll get an understanding of the feeling and history behind each style while mastering the base core moves and the proper technique. These styles are so unique that they are not included in any other ZIN™ Jam session or Zumba® Training

  • Rhythm ZIN™ Jam Sessions are designed to help you go deeper into your basic rhythms. You’ll get 4 rhythm-specific choreo routines to use in your Zumba® classes, practice the core steps and variations learned in your Basic 1 or Rhythms 2 Training, and be able to identify the beats and instruments that are exclusive to the rhythm you choose. You may choose to attend a ZIN™ Jam Session covering any of the rhythms listed here, taught by a ZJ™ specially licensed to teach this session.

    • Basic 1: Cumbia, Merengue, Reggaeton, Salsa

    • Rhythms 2: Flamenco, Tango, Belly Dance, Samba, Quebradita, Soca

    • It is recommended that a ZIN member attend a Zumba Rhythms 2 Instructor Training course before attending a Zumba Rhythms 2 Jam Session. However, it is not mandatory.

  • Specialty ZIN™ Jam Sessions are designed to help you learn new choreos to bring to your Specialty classes. You’ll learn 4 to 5 new choreos to integrate into your Zumba® Specialty classes. You may choose to attend a ZIN® Jam Session covering any of the specialties listed here.

    • Zumba Gold®

    • Zumba® Step

    • Zumba® Toning

    • Aqua Zumba®

    • Zumba® Kids + Kids Jr.

    • Specialty Jam sessions are designed to support ZIN Members licensed in the specific Specialty. We will allow a ZIN Member who has not yet trained in a specific Specialty, the option to attend one Specialty Jam session as a trial, to learn more about the Specialty, and to decide whether they’d like to attend a full Specialty instructor training course. This is limited to one per ZIN Member, per Specialty type.

What are ZIN Jam badges?

ZIN Jam badges are part of your Instructor Page and serve as a visual representation of your participation in ZIN Jam sessions. They update based on specific attendance milestones, rather than after each individual session. The milestone thresholds are as follows: 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, and 1000 sessions.

  • How do badge milestone updates work?
Badges reflect the highest milestone you have achieved. For example, if you’ve attended 8 sessions, your badge will display "5" until you reach the 10-session milestone. Similarly, attending 12 sessions will display "10" until you complete 20 sessions. Your badge automatically updates on your Instructor Page once a milestone is achieved. No manual action is required; your badge updates automatically upon reaching milestones. Milestones are cumulative across all ZIN Jam sessions you attend.

  • Why doesn’t my badge update after every session?
Badges are programmed to update only at milestone counts. For example, if you’ve attended 8 sessions, your badge will remain at "5" until you reach "10."

  • When will my badge update next?
It will update as soon as you reach the next milestone. For example, if your badge currently shows "10," it will update to "20" after your 20th session.

  • Why does my badge show fewer sessions than I’ve attended?
Badge reflects milestone thresholds, not exact session count. For example, with 15 sessions attended, your badge will show "10" until you reach "20."
