Instructions on how to create a Video on Demand (pre-recorded) class using YouTube.

Updated over 7 months ago

The all-in-one Class Management Dashboard is packed with amazing features to help you save time managing your classes, increase class registrations, and help you better manage your student lists and attendance.

One of the amazing updates is how you post your Video-on-Demand (or pre-recorded) classes. On the new dashboard, your Video-on-Demand (or pre-recorded) classes now stay available without you having to repost them every 24 hours!

How do Pre-Recorded or Video-On-Demand (VOD) classes work in the Class Management Dashboard?

Rather than uploading your On-Demand videos directly into the dashboard on zumba.com/strongnation.com, you need to first post the video in YouTube AS UNLISTED.

Posting the video as UNLISTED means your video is not searchable on YouTube.

Once you post your video as UNLISTED on YouTube, you’ll then be able to add your YouTube URL into your On-Demand class posting on zumba.com/strongnation.com.

Upon purchase, students will be able to watch your On-Demand class directly embedded on your Class Details page (video does not link out to YouTube); only those that purchase the class on zumba.com/strongnation.com will have access to it.

How do I benefit from this change?

Your Pre-Recorded classes will stay available for purchase without you having to repost it every 24 hours, saving you time and increasing your income opportunity!

  • Students continue to have access for 24 hours only upon purchase.

  • Video upload time will be quicker, saving you time.

  • You’re now able to post On-Demand classes that are longer than 60 minutes.

  • You’re now able to post On-Demand classes for other fitness types on zumba.com/strongnation.com, so long as you have the proper music licensing rights.

What rules and guidelines MUST be followed?

  • You may ONLY post Zumba®/STRONG Nation®/CIRCL Mobility™ classes on YouTube for the purpose of offering them as On-Demand classes on zumba.com/strongnation.com, and must mark them as UNLISTED. IMPORTANT: When posting your classes on YouTube, DO NOT include a playlist of the songs in the description of the video. If you do, you may receive a copyright notification from YouTube blocking portions of your video.

  • Posting other Zumba®/STRONG Nation®/CIRCL Mobility™ classes and choreo on Youtube is still prohibited.

  • Zumba®/STRONG Nation®/CIRCL Mobility™ On-Demand classes may only be made available for purchase on zumba.com / strongnation.com.

  • You must have the proper music licensing rights for any songs used in your On-Demand classes. As a reminder, as part of your ZIN™/SYNC Membership, you have a full library of Pre-Record or All Approved music for your On-Demand classes on ZIN™ Now, ZIN™ Play, SYNC Now and SYNC Go. If you experience any issues when posting an unlisted class on YouTube using approved music (e.g., an approved song is being blocked on YouTube), please contact us directly by emailing ip@zumba.com and we will look into the issue for you and attempt to resolve it. In your email, make sure to include the song title(s) you are experiencing issues with and a screenshot of the message you received on YouTube. Please make sure that you DO NOT dispute any copyright claim with YouTube over the use of any approved song without contacting us first.

How do I start?

Start posting the class videos that you want to use for On-Demand classes on YouTube as UNLISTED, then add the UNLISTED URL into your On-Demand class posting to make them available for purchase.

How do I upload a video on YouTube as UNLISTED?

  1. Sign in or create an account on youtube.com

  2. Click on “Your Videos” on the left hand navigation

  3. Click CREATE on the top right and upload your video

  4. Fill in video details; Under “visibility”, select the UNLISTED option and publish

REMINDER: DO NOT include a playlist of the songs used in your video in the description field. If you do, you may receive a copyright notification from YouTube and portions of your video may be blocked.

Note: YouTube may ask you to Verify your Account by adding your phone number to upload classes that are longer than 15 minutes. If prompted to verify your account, simply follow the steps when prompted. You can choose to get a verification code through a text message on a mobile device or an automated voice call.
