How do I amend an existing template?

Step by step guide on editing templates

Updated this week

To edit a Zylpha template you first need to open a template file from the template folder, these use the file extension ‘.zbtx’. By default the template folder can be found in your documents, using this file path: C:\users\[username]\documents\Zylpha Templates (shown in figure 1). If you cannot find the templates folder, you can find the folder location in File > Settings.

Once the template file has been opened, you’ll notice a couple of differences in the bundling software. Firstly, the 'Create PDF' button is greyed out (shown in figure 2) and secondly, the filename at the very top of the window will have a .zbtx filetype (shown in figure 3).

You can now make any changes you wish to the template, such as:

  • Moving panels (file explorer, leap etc)

  • Index settings

  • Pagination

  • Cover page

Once you have made the changes to the template, click save and it will overwrite the template file. When you next open Zylpha, create a new bundle and select the template, the changes made in the template will be the new default.
